If I add some new custom POI files and upload them to my Garmin, is it true I have to re-enter all the information for all the files in the same directory AGAIN.

I have 5 csv fileS, and it ask me again every time for the alert setting and mile FEER for alert FOR EACH.

yipes...

IS THERE A WAY TO SET THE DEFAULT ALERT FEET TO 5280=1 MILE

I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me if they got any software disks with their Nuvi 660. I did not get mine at a retail store, and no software came with it. I was wondering if there is something I am missing. Thanks.

After 20 years I have my first problem with a Garmin GPS. Yesterday we drove to Tampa (175 miles) and the traffic rx worked on the way up, coming home it never picked up a signal. I checked the traffic icon under system, and it said that I did not have a valid subscription. Click on the OK and the screen comes up that says I have a subscription thru Nov 31, 2008.

I use the Bluetooth feature on my C550 and was wondering if there is a way to create phone number shortcuts on the Garmin, similar to the "Call Home" shortcut. Is this possible. Does anyone know of a way to access the keyboard shortcuts already programmed into the phone?

I have a c330 and now I am being given a c550. I like the batteries in them they last 4 hrs or batter. But I drive a Bus all over the southwest. I am sorry to say this for we have all very good and newer buses but some of the plugs do not work. I looked on the net and found and called Lenmar Batteries. They said that I need the Lenmar 2100 Bkit.

I called Garmin today, and asked them if POI loader worked on Vista, and they said it did.

BS, it freeze in the first screen.

i noticed there seem to be a decent number of people here from the dc area.
anyway i was wondering if anyone here has experienced what i had-- i was coming from oxon hill/ft washington to get home (germantown, md) and for some reason my nuvi takes a loooong time to find a satellite reception. its not until i get onto the highway that i can get one.

but there is a C5XX update but I could not update my gps with webupdater I had to go to http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1515 to download

garmin nuvi 660 owner.. i was wondering, is our traffic receiver onl compatible with one company that is associated with garmin? is it possible that that can be connected to something else.. maybe lesser price (i know im a cheap head).. or free?? (yep!)

I was just looking at my 660 and the WAAS/EGNOS was set to off. how od the rest of you have yours set. Not sure what the diffenece is with out taking a trip some where.

one question, i have placed all of my poi's in a main folder, then broke them down into sub-folders, now if i remeber right for each sub-folder i need the poi file an icon and alert if i want it to alert.

I registered my nuvi 260 yesterday and learned that new maps are coming out in late April. Here's the link with the mention that "We are making our map data even better! The North America 2009 map update is scheduled for release in late April. Check back to order a map update for your product."

OK - so I'm one of those who runs his Nuvi while driving the SAME route every day to & from work. Except Wednesdays, I have a class that's on the way home from work. Naturally, I have a POI set for that.

I've been enjoying discussions on this forum, but I have a few questions.
- A lot of capabilities don't seem to be documented. Much as I enjoy the forum, isn't there some comprehensive documentation available that explains all the functions that are available on my 750?

I am trying to fill in all of the extra info for my custom WP's, but after copying it to my nuvi 650 it is restored to what was previously there. I am using the garmin .gpx format shown on wikipedia. Any ideas?

i know you can hear the unit thru your car radio . but does the unit have a speaker if you dont want to use the car audio ? and if so is the speaker loud enough to hear . i have a c 330 and the speaker is plenty loud . thanks glenn

i have a c330 and i am looking to upgrade i still want to stay with the garmin brand even though i have had many battery problems with my unit . what would you guys recomend ? anything new out there ? thanks glenn

Hi folks...as per subject, I can't run my nuvi250w immediately after downloading new POI's from this site. It said I had downloaded 2 items and then when I did the proper disconnect from my Windows PC, disconnected the nuvi and then restarted it, it came up with the following display.."No detailed maps found that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them."

and the Wall Street Journal Saw it. So they interviewed me and today the story came out. It was on the front page. The story was about the GPSr steering people wrong. The happened to me on vacation when while I was out Geo-caching. I was going from one cache to another and the GPS routed me over an abandoned road.
