Uninstall language guide

Anyone???

Save the file to your PC first and then just delete it from the nuvi. You can also back up the language files that you dont use, and delete them. Just be careful when deleting. I backed up my entire Nuvi to a file on my PC..then got rid of stuff I didnt need. Not too hard. Your PC should see your nuvi as a drive.

But whats the file's name on the unit?

I am guessing it is a prt of the operating system and not removable. I checked mine, It is probably not a very big file since it is just a sample guide. I wouldn't worry about it, By moving the sample pictures and getting rid of the voices there is plenty of room on a Nuvi. All my music and pictures are on the Card so I have plenty of room..Good luck...Dave

O I'm not talking about thee sample guide that comes with the unit, I'm talking about the Oxford Dictionary and the language utility.

Look for custom named .GPI files on the unit and tell us what their names are.

Only one... poi.gpi. Which make me think the dictionary language guide is in the unit to begin with and all you do is unlock it as opposed to instal it.

Based upon that, I'd say that's probably true.

I also try to delete the trial version of "language guide" that came with my 1490T. I deleted the folder "LEX_PKG" under the "Garmin" folder. Now, in the main menu, when I press "Language Guide", it says the "language guide" is not installed instead of "trial has expired".

My question is, can someone help me, to remove the "Language Guide" icon from the menu. I'd rather not seeing thing that has no use.

You cannot remove the icon as it's embedded in the firmware.
