Here is a cool web site that lets you convert a street address to latitude and longitude. It uses several sources and it is interesting to see the slightly different results. Maybe people could verify results and report which source is the most accurate. Enjoy.

I compared the TomTom 920 with the Nuvi 770 and chose the Garmin based on good experience with a prior Garmin model. However, I found that the Nuvi 770, unlike the 600 series Nuvis, does not offer truck routing. This is a pain when driving an RV and having to avoid parkways, etc.

I'm new to GPS and I find my 650 sending me on routes I have never used and would never think of using. So far when I know the route, I've ignored the GPS and gone with local knowledge; but I'm wondering, are the GPS's routes actually faster? Has anyone made time comparisons and do you find the Fastest faster than the Shortest Distance?

I loaded a WalMart POI file onto my Nuvi 260 and they ended up in the favorites instead of custom POIs. How do I remove them without doing them one at a time? There are hundreds of them..... And how did they get in there? lol

Just bought a new nuvi 660

Read in various forums that there seems to be an issue with underpowered fm transmission causing static when listening to the unit in your stereo system.

Since the nuvi 660 has an earphone jack - would it be possible to connect the gps unit directly to the stereo using an auxilary connection on the stereo itself.

Is there a way to manually enter (by way of POI, I assume) my home location?

My C340 is not finding the correct location for my home.

Other than that, I am most pleased with the product.

Is there a max size SD card the Nuvi will accept? Before I go out and buy a card, I want to make sure I dont get too big of one. I know some electronics, like cameras will only support up to a certain size. I cant find any info posted on this from Garmin.

I have been experimenting successfully with adding Custom POI to my Quest2. In doing so, I have maxed out the memory.

There are MANY POIs that came with the unit and I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to remove those original POI and totally customize the unit?

Garmin lovers, any of you using external antenna?
What is the experience like? Is it worth it?
Does it give you better reception in bad places like heavy woods or indoors (in a garage)?

I updated to version 3 somewhere around 21st of December. I paired two cell phones to the Nuvi. Pairing is a real b***ch but once paired, both cell phones work great. (I use bluetooth headset and wife uses Nuvi, if wife is not around, I turn off headset and Nuvi automatically links to my phone).

Hi all! Thanks to all for the fantastic information. I received a nuvi 660 for Christmas. Awesome GPS! I have read on some of the posts here that POI's can and can not be stored on sd cards. If they can, how is this done?

Since I'm not planning to use Audible, can I rename the button on my screen? Does anyone know how much memory is devoted to this? Can the software be removed to allow other file types or is that not necessary? Does Garmin have a delete program?

I'm a little confused about where to store my ever growing POI file. Can it stay on the SD card or does it have to be stored in the unit's memory? Right now I have a poi.gpi file on both. Is there a limit to what the device itself will hold? (I'm sure there is.) I have a Nuvi200. Thanks....

I loaded a number of poi from rhode island onto my sd card in the nuvi and when it asked if I wanted to load them so that they would be there when card removed, I said yes. I don't see any extra categories, I added beaches, lighthouses and general attractions. Where would I find the custom ones in the nuvi 200?

I can pair the 660 with the 700p, complete with the phone book. My problem is that when I turn on the 660 the devices won't pair until I "wake up?" the 700p. The phone is on but the Palm function off. As soon as I activate the Palm function the devices pair. Does anyone have a solution?

How do I turn off the MapSource waypoints? I was playing around with my new nuvi 350, and downloaded mapsource. Now it's got all these extra waypoints turned on that slow down the map drawing quite a bit. Thanks for the help.
