Garmin talk

I think I've got a pretty good way to put my iTunes playlists onto my nuvi 760. I'm running a Windows XP machine and all my music in iTunes is mp3. Perhaps others will find this helpful.

First, you need iTunes Export, a free open source download from here:

Well I found a hell of a deal for a 760, and have upgraded from my 660. Giving the old unit to a family member. I hate how this unit though is MSN ready but you need to buy the cable. Anybody know of cheap place to pick this cable up at?

Took my first trip today using the 650, Am a garmin user since the first GPS colormap, Cannot figure how to get the 650 to show interstate exits when showing map view (not navigating), Just shows interstate and direction no exits. Know someone has the solution.

After updating my SPc530 yesterday, I disconnected it and turned it back on. A window came up saying there was no map data and could not continue. :>( I couldn't believe it and had no idea what might have happened.

Just got Garmin 660 and testing all features. When attempted to do currency conversion the program would misreport the currency values.ie Euro to Dollars conversions currency rate correctbut when went to currency converter the rate was increased by approximatly 34%. This was consistent with all currency.

Hi. I have a 2730 and a 7500 with the laterst CNNA"NT" V.2008 Maps and they are unlocked and I have it loadede on my PC as well.

I have a Garmin Handheld unit which uses a micro data card and want to load the maps on it too.

I bought a brand new CNNA DVD V.2008 with it's own unlock code.

I am missing something. I have tried over and over to download and install new vehicles from the garage and no luck. I can go into my computer and e drive is the garmin and I drag and click them into the garminvehicle folder. I can't seem to get them to show up on the GPS unit. Help what am I doing wrong?

I searched and didn't come up with anything.

I'm trying to view elevation/altitude on my Nuvi 200. I did it once, and can't figure out how I did it now.

I read somewhere to touch the satellite 'bars', but that doesn't seem to do anything on mine.

Is there a Garmin product the will accept routes with waypoints? If not Garmin any other brands? Pretty much committed to Garmin but numerous stops are now being uploaded to favorites which works but is somewhat cumbersome.

I received a Nuvi260 for Christmas. I am new to GPS so please bear with me. I figured out most of the features on the unit, but the Custom POI lists are giving me trouble.
When I access the Nuvi under /my computer/ L drive displays Garmin GPS, M drives shows the memory card.

Just bought a nuvi 660 - thinking about returning it for a 650 ($150 cheaper than the 660).

Asked a question earlier about the 660 but still did not get the answer that I needed. Maybe I wasn't clear on my question.

I understand that the only difference between 650 and 660 is that the 650 does not have bluetooth and the fm transmitter - all other features are identical to the 660.

Has anyone else gotten an annoying startup message that states your Garmin Map is over year old?

How do we get rid of this message without updating the map?

Here is a cool web site that lets you convert a street address to latitude and longitude. It uses several sources and it is interesting to see the slightly different results. Maybe people could verify results and report which source is the most accurate. Enjoy.

I compared the TomTom 920 with the Nuvi 770 and chose the Garmin based on good experience with a prior Garmin model. However, I found that the Nuvi 770, unlike the 600 series Nuvis, does not offer truck routing. This is a pain when driving an RV and having to avoid parkways, etc.

I'm new to GPS and I find my 650 sending me on routes I have never used and would never think of using. So far when I know the route, I've ignored the GPS and gone with local knowledge; but I'm wondering, are the GPS's routes actually faster? Has anyone made time comparisons and do you find the Fastest faster than the Shortest Distance?
