I have a Garmin Map Update 2008 that has not been installed. Do I need to use the product key to load it on to my current computer, or is the key used to install the update on an actual GPS?

Can I install it without blowing away the upgrade capability to a GPS when I need it?

Does the installation put a copy of Map Source on the local computer?

I learned two things on my first long trip with the nuvi.

1. Pick faster route for long trips or it will avoid the interstate like the plague (at least it did on this trip). I was getting real frustrated with it before I realized I had it set for shorter distance.

Hi everyone.

I have a Garmin US Topo mapset. Does anyone know how to install parts of it on the Nuvi? Once on, can you switch from street maps to the topo maps, or do you have to install one or the other.

I just installed my NUVI 200 and have a quick question:

Can I leave the unit turned on in my car all the time (ie. does it have a sleep mode) or do I need to turn it off everytime I get out of the car?

Looking to find way to back up saved favorites and to be able to transfer them to a new Garmin GPS

Does anyone know if the Nuvi 7xx will save it's last position if you are using the beanbag mount instead of the windshield mount?

I uploaded today’s track to Mapsource (v 6.13.6) from my nuvi 750. I started looking at the various data points when viewing the track properties and noticed that on one leg of my journey I had attained a speed of 141 mph. I thought to myself if only my 2008 Jeep could go that fast. Further analysis of the track properties revealed a few more bogus speed readings.

About a year ago I purchased the MetroGuide Europe v8 for my eTrex Legend (around $200 as I remember which included full coverage of many countries I will never visit.) Now that I also have the much more capable Nuvi 250W I'm wondering if I can use the MetroGuide series with my Nuvi in some fashion or do I have to purchase the City Navigator NT Europe for my next vacation over there.

I posted in here a few months ago about a stolen Nuvi 350. It was stolen from my work place and I made a police report thinking that I'd never see it again. Yesterday the detective called me on my cell phone and told me that she had recovered my Nuvi and that I would have it back in less than a week!

Real newbie here to this stuff with a new Nuvi 650.
Quick learner, though, so that may help LOL!

When it comes to charging, I do not have the AC option. Instead I am using the USB (worked fine). Now, when in the vehicle using the power there, I noticed the level of charge decreasing. Does the unit not charge except for when using the USB?

I travel to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Sonora Mexico and have not found any electonic maps of this area for my Garmin Nuvi 680. Does anyone know if there are maps of this area available and compatible with Garmin? I have searched in vain. Thanks.

I received an update alert when attempting to run the Garmin Web Updater this morning. It's apparently for PPC Macs but it still updated mine - which is for a 24" Intel iMac.
The download is 27.7 MB and takes your version to 2.0.2 which is an actual release, not a Beta.

Is there a way to download the GPS software update for the Nuvi 350 without installing the updated unit software?
The only way I have been able to figure out to get the new GPS software is to use webupdater and this seems to require installation of the unit software before listing additional updates.

I created a file called it McDonalds that says" #2 with coffee, no cream, no sugar"

When I leave home, click favorites, Mcdonalds and hit go.
When I pull up the drive thru, I hit again and click dial, and it spits you "#2 with coffee, no cream, no sugar".
Pisses off the girl at the drive thru that she has to speak to a machine to take the order.

Just picked up an 8GB A-Data SDHC card. Works perfectly in my Nuvi 650

strange result . i can log onto my garmin with username an password but when i click on contact support and you have to resign in ,it doesnt recognize me using same login id and password.they sent me a copy of city navigator north america nt but i have the nt 2008 .(latest one?) on my nuvi 650

Just took a long trip with my new nuvi 350. Two things I would love to see added: some kind of pause button when using a route. If I stop for gas or food or bathroom this thing will U-turn me to death. I know I turned off the route just let me get some gas... sounds like a back seat driver. The other would be gas mileage checker.

I am trying to add a custom poi file to my c330 and for some reason, the software won't take the .csv file. I downloaded it from here and I have checked to make sure that the gps has the latest firmware or whatever. Is there something I am doing wrong here?

I use Gil for my voice guidance. Has anyone noticed any kind of change in the way some names are pronounced? If not, it must be that
I didn't notice it before.
