updating the garmin c330

i have a really dump question. currently my c330 software version is 4.40. I was searching online through garmins website and there is a version 5.7 out there right now. Im using garmins webupdater. and it says that my unit is up to date but im seeing a version 5.7 on the garmin website. I tried downloading the file and installing it on my unit it reconizes my unit as being there but i keep getting an error message saying that my garmin device is not responding. How do I update my unit the the 5.7?

It is current

Apparently (from others I have read) there were two versions of the c330. Those that have 4.4 had a different screen than earlier models. It is supposed to be of the low glare type. It is the one that I have and had no problems. The 4.4 is the same as the c340.

Since the unit is supposed to be no longer in production, I have wondered if they ran out of the screens, and used the c340 screens instead of making a new batch.

Don't worry about as we apparently have the good ones.

There are tons of threads on

There are tons of threads on the map subject, do a search and you will find that many got it, and some didn't.

Best thing is to keep calling Garmin until you get a rep that will give it to you. Just cause one rep won't, that doesn't mean that another won't.

Updating Maps

This was the first time I updated my 340 (purchased 4/07). I was surprised to discover that the update software was a physical disk and not available as a download directly from Garmin. My mistake in purchasing the Map Update 2008 City Navigator North America NT from Best Buy for $81 + tax. I did however, update the unit operating software via download from Garmin without any issues or problems. Is there appropriate software available from sources other than Garmin? As far as speaking with a Garmin technical service representative be prepared for a hold time exceeding 30 minutes. The tech I spoke with did not give me any indication that map update software was available as a courtesy. I sure I don't need to point out that updates under $100 are a bargain compared to auto factory GPS unit updates. My wife's Lexus with factory installed GPS runs $250 + for the disks.
