Garmin talk

I want to use the nuvi 350 to display some bicyle routes. i downloaded the gpx file two different ways - directly to the unit and also to the media card. i can see the file on the card via windows explorer. but on the unit, all i can get is directions to the start of the bike ride, not the route itself.

I just bought the nüvi 760 and so far am loving it. I never thought I would want one (I have a really good sense of direction and have been reading maps since I was six) but having lived in a village outside London for the past few years, I have seen how cool they are! (It seems everyone has one flavor or another of GPS there.)

Have a Nuvi 680. Was wondering what people suggest as a second unit. Don't need Bluetooth or traffic, just basic unit to leave in a second car that may not even be used that often.

Making trip to above next month, would love any/all POIs, especially B&B's, as we're shying away from usual hotels.

My c330 is perfect for this trip, also have Garmin GPSMap 60CSX for topo work, etc.

Is there any reason I can't put trip POI's in the red light alert and get an alert when I'm near a POI? I'm taking a trip to the CAD Rockies and don't want to miss the scenic wonders when I'm off the beaten path.

Is anyone having a problem getting sattelites after loading the update 3.0? Appears to me to be taking quite a bit longer...

Finally upgraded from my ol reliable Garmin eMap to the Nuvi 750....of course, theres not much lacking in the 750 compared to eMap.

However, one thing I have noticed, is there is no way to look up or determine the sunrise/sunset and moon rise/moon set like I could on the eMap.

I used this feature on my bike rides to really guage how much daylight was left.

Thoughts, hints, tips, etc?

After using the POI Loader and uploading .csv files to the device. How do you view them and where do they reside on the GPS?

I tried uploading a .csv file this morning and it appeared to work fine. However, I could not see any POIs from this file (in the case Dunkin' Donuts).

One, I guess the Nuvi 650 doesn't have a 3D mode like a Tomtom? That sucks! I wish it did (or maybe I am blind) but I don't think so.

I recently bought a Garmin 750. It's my first GPS and I take it with me everywhere I drive -- sometimes just to see how it gets me to places I've been before.

Can anyone that has actually removed the magnet post some pics of the disassembled antenna once the magnet is removed?

I took the antenna apart, but there is a thin piece of foil covering up the area where the magnet is. I don't want to peel it back blindly, so... Can anyone help me out?

How long does it take to charge with the USB? Is it charging when you see the computer icon under the Garmin

I had it in a couple of hours and the unit was only charged half way.

I've been spending the entire day trying to update my garmin c330 and add the 2009 update that i bought. Says there is a problem trying to connect with the garmin website and server.

Anybody know what is going on?

I have uploaded a considerable number of custom POI's to my Garmin nuvi 780, and I can get to them all via the Extras icon. Most of these POI files are in gpx format, with the remainder in csv format.

I have downloaded the file and then copied it to the GPX folder on the garmin and then ran the POI loader. I tell the POI loader that the POIs are to be installed the the garmin unit and that the files are currently in Garmin/GPX. The software does it thing and announces that x number of POIs have been DL.

In 3D mode if I click screen for zoom mode, I can see all the defauld factory poi icons othervise I can't see any of them 3D or 2D mode. Only camera icons and allert are working

But I can see all the custom poi icons which I created on map mode.

Does anyone know how to increase the 10,000 track point limit in most Garmins? My nuvi 750 has more than enough memory, but starts removing "bread crumbs" when it gets to 10,000 points.

I recently installed the 2009 maps and did all the software updates at the same time on my Nuvi 360. Now when I start my car in the morning and drive off it takes forever to aquire the satellites. It did not used to. During the rest of the day its fine, just the initial first time.

Anyone else experience this or know the reason why?

I know MSN Direct require subscription but is real-time traffic free?

This is my first attempt at installing custom POIs and I've obviously done something wrong. I've used POI Loader to remove all Extras so I'm ready to try again with a clean slate. Can and will you help?
