What is best way to firmly affix a Garmin C340 in a rental car?

I'm new to the forum. Any ideas on the best way to firmly attach a Garmin C340 inside a rental car? The suction cup doesn't hold the windshield very well. I also bought a holder that is supposed to attach to the air-conditioning vents of the car. That doesn't work well either.

Are they any friction based holders for the Garmin C340.

Thanks!

Randy

You can get the Friction

You can get the Friction mount from Walmart see http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4232210 . I starting using it after a problem with suction cup.Very happy with the friction mount.Drove from Florida to VA with no slipping problems.

Another vote for this mount. My Dad has this one and he has not used the windshield mount since he's got this.

Yes

The dash mount is the best way to go.

And another vote for the friction mount

I use that mount exclusively in my own cars and in rental cars when I travel. Its easy to move from car to car and you can slip it off of the dash and out of site in an instant. Also on some cars, it sets very nicely on the console out of sight, but still easy to read.

I got mine off of eBay.

Holder

That type of holder is great but I believe the this wouldn't be practical to travel with. The OP stated that he wanted something to use in rental cars and the size of this makes it somewhat impractical to travel with......especially now that airlines want to charge for checked bags. We who travel need to keep things down to minimalistic size. I personally just wedge the original suction mount into the corner of where the dash meets the windshield and haven't had any problems in my travels.

mount

walmart has a mount that just sits on the dash the weight of the mount keeps it in place works great cost is somewhere around $25.00 to $35.00 .

Affix Garmin

Wet your finger or apply a small amount of moisture to the suction cup. Then fasten it to the window.....if will not come off!

With a protective, non-skid base. Inlcudes cigarette lighter adapter. Compatible with StreetPilot c320/c330/c340 GPS units."

Temporary Dash Mount ...

The beanbag or friction mounts are great itdeas for temporary installations. I have a Nuvi 660 that's "permanently" installed via a steel bracket connected to the dash near the radio. Try http://www.mountguys.com/ for some great options.

WalMart mount fit Nuvi?

I just looked and Amazon has the WalMart style dash mount for $30.22 delivered. It is advertised for the C 3XX series but I assume it would work equally well for the Nuvi. Can someone tell me if this is this correct?

Dash mount

Dash Mount

Thanks Charlie. I use the one you referenced for both my Nuvi 350 and my StreetPilot C530. Wow, Walmart is priced much higher than Amazon.
