Garmin talk

If you have been having problems getting the Garmin communicator plugin to be detected on the test page (like I was) and are feeling stupid (like I was) this will help (with both problems ): On Internet Explorer go to "Tools" and click on "Manage Add-ons" then "Enable or disable add-ons" and you will see your problem.

Does anyone have ALL the codes for formating a gpx file? Like everything betwen and .

Well I've just downloaded and installed the new 2009 maps. I thought it would also install map source on my computer but it didn't. Is anyone else also having this?

Went for a little day trip today and my Nuvi 660 continues to disappoint me. These are some pretty dismal screen shots of the 660 (would you accept a paper map of this quality?):

We have several Nuvi's. Is there anyway to add a phone number to the favorites? I would think it would be an easy thing to do to edit the file(s) but we couldn't see how. Anyone know the secret?

After calling and talking to Garmin twice, it seems that they are giving the free update to nuvi 650 and not 660 because 660 is no longer being manufactured where nuvi 650 is still being manufactured! Go figure

I though the nuvi 650 is on their list of discontinued products, it just doesn't make sense.

This is a hint that the 660 is on its way there on the discontinued list too.

I'm new here and I already like this website.

When I bought the nuvii 750 in January 2008 I was surprised to find that my home address was not included. I have lived here since Aug 2006 and some of my neighbors since Nov 2005. While I was not happy to find out I would to pay for a map up grade, I wanted to make sure my home address was now included.

Last night, I downloaded the new map info and it went through fine (though my computer is a bit slow, so it took 6 hours).

I tried to update three times today and about 15-20% through the update itself, I get an error stating that the map update has failed.

The other day I went by a Red light camrea and my Garmin c330 didnt sound a thing. How do I properlly load it into my c330

Both are roughly the same price and I really don't have any use for the traffic function (not available where I live in Canada). Comments/thoughts?

It is time to upgrade the oler of my units, the tank like 330!!!

iam trying to install my new maps there is not enough room on my c/drive but i have loads of room on my d/drive how can i install on my d/drive.

The 2009 Mapsource Viewer is on the Garmin site; however, it is buried within myGarmin once you select the download to purchase option. If you then go there and then select "Coverage" you will see the link to the Mapsource viewer.

My cubicle-mate said he read an article that the GPS satellites might be upgraded soon. Does anyone know what that means for us Garmin owners?

Can the downloaded 2009 map update from Garmin for my GPSr be used to update the maps on my PC used by Mapsource?

Will this devices show POI icons as you are driving? My brother has a factory GPS in his car and it shows POI icons. Just wanted to know if anyone knew how to make the GPS do that.

I just ordered my free update from Garmin. $10.00 shipping and handling. They gives you the option of downloading or a disk. I have 31 days from the time I bought my 260 (3/25/08)to get the free map. 90 days for the download.

Okay, so I am pretty ticked off at Garmin lately, the windshield suction mount is falling off all the time...seems if you remove it to clean the windshield, for security, etc. and it sticks a little bit, you get that black residue on your windshield...well over time that degrades the suction cup's ability to restick.
