Whops...gmapprom file deleted

I deleted my gmapprom.img file from my garmin, wasnt sure if i needed it on there or not, but i did back it up on an sd card. The only problem is that I cant load the file (or any other files) from my sd card directly from my gps device and the gps wont connect to my computer for some reason, it gets stuck on an error screen saying : No detailed maps found that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them (and it has the enter pin screen behind it). Any ideas of how i can avoid this screen and get the computer connected screen? I got my garmin off of ebay and there was no manual included. Thanks

Since you are unable to access the file in any manner (ex,explorer,etc.) then you will probably need to contact Garmin and send the unit back for repair.

does the satellite tracker
does the satellite tracker work without gmapprom? because if it does, it will get past the enter pin screen when im at home and hopefully let me connect it to my computer.

Now, please be careful in what you delete from the Nuvi. Some files are just plain needed.

yea i was looking for a guide online for what files were necessary to have on the device but couldnt find anything. But the garmin site i think will tell you what the files in the Garmin folder are for I beleive, so ill check that out. Is there any way to use an SD card as extra storage on the device for like car models and stuff like that? Because the gmapprom file takes up likek 970mb and my device only has 1gb of space.
Yes and No
You can use the SD for storage, but not for cars or languages. It can be used for additional maps, .mp3s, POIs, and .jpg's. If you want additional space, you can delete any language files you don't use, they are 15mb each, and any vehicles you don't use.
Just leave the files in the main Garmin folder alone.
