Along the current route

I am curious if anyone knows, when searching for a POI, and when one selects the option "along the current route," how far AWAY from the current route does the search go?

1 mile or less? two miles? 1/2 mile?

Also, when the list shows POIs, and gives the mileage to the POI, is that the miles along the current route, or is it a point to point mileage?

I'm not positive but..

when I search for a Garmin installed poi, not a custom poi, the limits seems to be around 2 to 2.5 miles...

If you select a poi and touch go to and decide to stop at a resturant on the way and touch food and add to current route it will show the closest 50.

The mileage is based on the current route.

If you want to look ahead on the route you are travelling touch near at bottom of screen and select another city.

How's the distance measured?

As you look at the POI entry before selecting it, the distance shown is point-to-point. If you select that POI and press "Go," then look at the detail screen, the distance shown is the measured distance along the calculated route.
