How has your GPS saved you money?

My wife recently got me a Nuvi 750 for my Father's Day gift (early...ha ha).

However, we have been talking about getting a new minivan with a navigational system. However, we discussed with the agent and the cost of getting a new van with/without nav system was incredible.

This Nuvi is going to save me some big $$$$ amortized over a 4yr lease period. This way, I don't have to spend extra $$$$ to get the nav system on the van. Plus, it's portable I can take with me when I travel using a rent car.

I just love my Nuvi!

How has your Garmin saved you money......curious? I can certainly understand shorter distances for gas savings these days......any other stories out there?

Just in gas alone

Gas, Restaurants, Red Lights....I travel almost 100% for business - So Arriving on time is very important - Priceless

Gas stations - No longer do I have search for the lowest prices or locations when returning the rental cars or even at home - and with today’s prices??

Restaurants - Finding what I want to eat relative to my location is above and beyond my expectations and a nice perk...it means I do not have to eat Hotel food if I do not want too!

Red Lights..what at $200 a pop…you do the math! It only takes one Red Light ticket to justify it's worth!

Gas alone

Those are some good thoughts, subjects....some of which I had not considered. Sounds like you have the msn direct.

My verison of "Priceless":

We traveled to AZ last month for vacation. I had pre-loaded the locations of all the places we wanted to visit. We got to every location we wanted to see and without any sort of delay roaming about, burning gas and listening to the kids bicker about sitting in the car. Now that's golden! And the Nuvi proved itself to be worth many times more than it's typical retail selling price.

GAS, GAS, GAS....

Can I say anything else.. I'm sure it saved several arguments with the significant other like it did for me.

My gps would give me the

My gps would give me the fastest route from point A to point B. I would never get lost. If I got lost, I'll need to drive more to get right on track. To drive more you need more gas. To get gas you need money. So my gps has saved me by using less gas.

so far, so good

My first serious trip with my nuvi 750. 400+ miles from Denver to Pine Haven, WY. Other than the McDonalds that wasn't in the brush field in the high country above Dillon, CO, it's been working well. Saves me money because with the high cost of gasoline, I don't have to run around in circles when trying to find a location.

made my flight

I was on vacation and the interstate I was on was backed up for miles as I approached the airport. Because of my GPS, I was able to take some back roads that would never have been find on a typical travel map I would have bought in the past.

Because of that, I am confident, that had I not had my GPS, I would have missed my flight.

Saving money

I drive a "Big Truck" and use a c330. It works pretty good for the most part. My biggest savings is my time to navigate through cities to drop my deliveries, thus this is saving me money. 1, time is money in the trucking business 2, we are only allowed to be "on the clock" for so long in a work day and the more miles we drive, the more $$$$ we make. This is one of the best investments I have ever purchased.

By Toll/Non Toll roads

Garmin excellent avoidance selection.....of Non-Tolls really saved me some bucks.....

Not Yet

Right now my Garmin is tempting me to spend more money. I'm enjoying it so much I want to upgrade.

Garmin nüvi 765T, nüvi 350

Factory installed equipment

Stu, although the factory installed options increase the value of the vehicle in thousands (GPS, entertainment/DVD system, etc), they still do not come even close to after-market options. I got my brand new van last year, fully loaded with the exception of DVD and navigation, which saved me over $3,000. The top of the line DVD system with a much bigger screen was under a $1K, and we all know about the capabilities of the almighty nuvi. smile

Saved Money

I saved money by not needing a lawyer in divorce. I don't fight with the little lady while driving
any more it was a nuvi or a gag.The nuvi was a better deal.

Well, it saved me from

Well, it saved me from having my butt chewed by my wife for getting lost a few times so, I would have to say, HELL YEAH it saved me!! Not just money but my LIFE! (LOL)

I like mine just like a new toy, but it never gets old. Also it is a good companion, I love going a different way intentially, sometimes just to hear "recalculating".

I assume this is addressed to me...Come on can you tell me that you NEVER go through a yellow light? How I use the alarms etc is that I make sure to watch the lights alittle more carefully and keep the foot on the brake rather than on the gas...or to make sure if traffic is backing up...not to block the intersection...Case in point in DC..I grew up there and I used to know the area really well...in most cases when drivers know areas well they tend to get lazy and take things for granted...Trafiic is horrible and just making it through the light can mean the difference between making a meeting on time or not..As I said it just makes me more aware of my surroundings..

Probably saved me of about 4-5 tickets.
