Just heard on the 5:30 pm news that all of the speed cameras here in Arizona are now set to trip over 11 mph ,,,Boy how nice they can be 1 more mph,, they said it will help to off set the inconsistency of the cameras. What a scam....

I have a Garmin Nuvi 770 and I can't seem to get the POI's to show on my active route map. Does anyone out there know a fix for this problem? ( I have been able to display POI's, if I touch the map and go into the explore mode, but even then I have to zoom way in to even get that to work) Thanks!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if anybody else ran into this issue. When i have my mp3 player playing and proximity alerts pop up, the mp3 advances 1 song . THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME, NOT JUST SOMETIMES. I let garmin know and they told me they will look into it.

Edmunds reported that an anouncement made by Garmin at the ICS show in Las Vegas that Garmin in Feb will be offering a free software update to the company's stand-alone personal travel assistance the Nuvi 205 and 705 series that will allow drivers to select the most fuel efficient rount and to track their fuel useage.

Just purchased the Nuvi 260. Started with Tom Tom One 125. Kept finding map inaccuracies. Also, the window mount constanly fell off the window. It was an ok unit, but I like the Garmin much better. Problem: I drive many miles for my job, and I use the unit to see upcoming cross streets.

From the MSN Direct site; "To receive the new Flight Status and Doppler Weather Maps features on your navigation device, you need to download a software update from Garmin WebUpdater which will be made available soon."

Looks like those with at least the 7x5 series might get the enhancements. When the 800 series was annouced those with 700 series were able to get those enhancments!

I'm sorry posting such nubish questions in advance but this is what led to them.

I bought my Garmin Nuvi 760 at Costco and it didn't come with any software. I kinda had to educate myself on loading poi's and updating the software on the device. I read somewhere that extra maps can be loaded on the 760 using Mapsouce.

What is Mapsource?

Ok, so I am a little confused. I got a nuvi 200 for Christmas, and I am playing with trying to use custom POIs. I think I have the part of loading them directly onto the device and organization and all that down. Is there a way to have them stored on an external SD card and just read by the device, rather than having them load into the device's memory?

I live in Toronto Canada. Whenever I am driving on 401 in Toronto area, my Nuvi 760 can not determine if I am in express lanes or collectors when I have selected a route. Sometimes as per GPS route I should be in collectors but I go into express lanes. But my 760 can not figure it out that I am in express lanes. My old C330 figures it out very fast that I switched to differnt lanes.

When i hit the Garmin Online prompt on my GPS and select active subscriptions, i get :
Safety Camera Trial
Traffic: US
Traffic: Europe
Fuel Prices: US
Flight Status
Local Search (they use google)
Photo Navigation
and activations i get :
Free Subscription
with a large Activate button with a visit garmin to get your activation key etc.

I have been editing my voice files with TTSVoiceEditor software. There are many voice files that I will never use. Does anyone know if removing those extra unused files will make more room for CustomPOIs while not having a negative impact on operation??

After several months of loading custom poi's using Garmin's POI loader I am now unable to load anything. This seems to have started after updating the firmware to revision 4.60. When I load the poi's in express or manual mode, when I get to the last poi the screen says complete very quickly.

I asked this of Garmin as question 2 of 2 but they only answered question #1.

Do you know if it is possible to have the nuvi 255 screen orient itself properly in zoom out mode when traveling?

I have read about the 7XX series freezing up while using Touguide POI's. Has anyone had the same problem with the 8XX series esp the 850. I used my Nuvi to navigate using the TourGuide POI's for the first time today. It annouced a POI and the a turn. Bingo, froze right there and I turned it off and when I turned it back on it was still frozen in the same spot.

They started with Airplane cockpit units and do not realize that Nuvi is not used by the same demographic.

The units do not last more than a couple of years without repair or expensive service. $700 avg. retail for a unit does not justify the cost.

Can anyone provide me to a quick link for a good specification to the Garmin gpx format? Searching for it here is getting me way too many hits and none that I have come across yet seem to actually get into what is the definition of the contents, and searching on the Garmin site comes up suspiciously lacking. I'm sure the information is there somewhere, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Is there a location for previously uploaded Wav files for Proximity alerts and general POI sounds? I found in the sounds library where the MP3 files are located. Is there a location on this site or another site where the POI's are generally uploaded with non mp3 GPS units in mind?

Looks like Gramin is introducing a new Zumo 660. I guess it will premiered at the 2009 CES, if it hasn't already hit the market yet.
