Garmin talk

Does anyone have a problem with the Garmin 400t not being accurate? My Garmin is off about 50 meters and need to know if there is anything i can do to fix this.

I have recently had to upgrade my desktop and laptop computers and neither of them have a serial port. This is not a big deal for the Nuvi260 but I now find that I cannot connect my trusty GPS76S to either system. I use the 76S for fishing trips and it also has the neat feature of accurately correcting the computers system clock which for some reason the Nuvi does not.

Does you take your nav unit along for a bike ride? What handlebar mount do you use?

I have a NUVI 265T and downloaded the POI File RestAreasCombined(Ver.H).csv (142.26 KB) and installed it with no problem.

Now the question: Does the rest area pop up by itself when I get within X number of feet of the rest stop?

I bought my 265wt just before Christmas and have (according to garmin) the latest maps but it doesnt show a major highway in Phoenix as being completed, which is causing me grief as I am new here. Is there anyway to get an update for a specific city/state?

What types of SD cards are compatible with a Nuvi 765T? I have seen SD cards and SDHC cards. The SDHC cards say they are not compatible with a "standard SD reader". In one of the other posts I read about someone using a 8g SDHC card with a Nuvi (880 I think). What is the whole truth?

Is this thing able to take a red light file? I cant find oone for this exact model anywhere, is there reallly a way to red light enable a Quest2? I've got the loader ready, but just no love on a file working. Thanks in advance. I've been searchin' everywhere.

On a recent trip, I wanted to go to a chain restaurant and my nuvi had plenty of locations store. I had trouble finding the one with the shortest detour from my current route. The arrow on the right just seemed confusing. At the time I did not really care whether I had to drive 50 miles down the road, but I did not want to drive 10 miles out of my way.

Everytime I pass a POI I have installed on my 660 the tone alert come on, I turned it off my it still sounds off.. Is there anything else I have to turn off?

In my haste to make more space on my Garmin 200W I erased my 2008 Maps, I think. I didn't back it up like I should have. Now I get a runtime error. Is there a way to get this map back. Its the file that is almost 1G, I think. Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone care to share where they found an exceptional buy for the friction (beanbag) mount for their nuvi?

I got a new Nuvi for myself and my folks during the holidays.

I was worried about theft so here's how I protect mine: I labelled mine and my folks with a labellers, placing my email / name on the unit.

Then I typed in Microsoft Word the following:

I have had a 750 for the past few months. I noticed that it has the capability to give me traffic info (with some help) I see that Garmin has the VIB 11 available but it seems pricey. Are there any other options available that will do the same thing. If so do they require a monthly, yearly or one time fee?

Does anyone use an external antenna on their Nuvi? If so, was it worth the money. I read an article that coated windows on vehicles can reduce signal strength..
especially at start up.

So this bud of mine got a 765 for Christmas, used it about 3 times in the car locally, and then added a few POI's and a TourGuide or two.

I was speaking to a friend of mine tonight about all the useful features of my new Garmin 360. He's a software designer and he's also the author of a popular media player. I was telling him I wanted to beef up the media player a little on my Nuvi.

Is it possible to add a mp3 voice alert to the redlight POI for the 350 instead of the standard "ding" alert?

The reason I ask, is that if you try to download a bundle from Garmin Garage for the 350 it tells you that you cannot install the mp3 files as the 350 is not a voice compatible unit.

My wife has a Garmin 350 purchased in Dec. 2007 with the original maps. North American Ver 8. Is this the 2007 maps or the 2008 maps.

When creating your own POI, using the .csv format, is there any way to order your POI so they appear alphabetically on the Garmin vice having them appear sorted from closest to furthest away?
