I understand that I need to convert the mp3 file to wav for it to be put on my 330C. Can anyone advise me what software I need to get and if there is any additional programs I will need to.
Audacity
Many programs will convert mp3 to wav, even Winamp. One easy to use audio tool that I would suggest for doing this (and a lot more) is audacity and is available free from
audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
Use the "export" function to save the sound as a WAV file.

If you do a search for "convert wav", you will find numerous threads -- each has numerous recommendations.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Keep it short
Keep in mind that WAV files can get big very quickly (hence the popularity of MP3 compression). Something to consider when making your file is you may want to keep it short...
Audacity
+1 on Audacity; however, another to look at that does the conversion and more is Media Monkey.

Free Mp3 and Wav Converter
Often .wav files are up to eight times larger than .mp3 files. There are many good converters on the market and some are free. Here is a link to a free converter that does a good job of audio file format conversions and is easy to use:

It's worth a try, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work - it doesn't work with the StreetPilot C510/C530.

The annoying thing is, that the voice file (.VPM) is a collection of .WAV files and it knows how to play them...so there's no technical reason why they couldn't have added the feature.

Yes, you are right. C330 is a good device as far as navigation is concerned but lacks all other good features.
