Garmin talk

I am a big fan of Garmin, and refer all my friends and family to buy Garmin whenever possible. I even gift out Garmin to my folks when they said they wanted a GPS.

But now I'm wishing Garmin would do somethings better.

My Garmin C320 has been rock solid, but I can't say the same of the newer Nuvi units.

I purchased a 2 Gig SD card for my 200W. After loading customs POI's to my card, I find I have plenty of room to load photos. I haven't found exactly where to load the photos. Do I create a folder or load it onto the main directory of the card? Second question: How many actually use your Nuvi to carry and display photos?

I am new to the 705 series. i found tha tmy unit is only showing one turning arrow in green in the upper left of the screen while you have multiple arrows in the manual pics. Do you know how to setup the nuvi to make it show more than the upcoming turn.

My 750 was working fine, then all of a sudden wouldn't turn on.

Any ideas on how to re-start or am I doomed to sending it in to Garmin?

I updated formware on my older C330 today and after that I removed my custom POIs from it. Now when I try to transfer POIs, I am getting message "There is not enough space on the unit, please decrease the nuber of files to be transferred." I tried by reducing the nuber but no luck.

Is there a way to access C330's hard disk?
I will appreciate your help.

I am suffering since upgrading from a 660 to a 765T unit. I returned the first unit but the replacement crashes in an identical manner during use. Sometimes it reboots, but usually the screen remains black. It will not always reset by holding the switch to the left. I cannot find any other listings with this issue but wondered if it is a known problem?

I have a nuvi 285 and have been trying to load bmp files and not getting anything. The poi's load just fine but leave a square where the image would be. Have both files with the same name in the poi folder.

I downloaded some POI files but can't get them to open. Says it needs to know what program created them. The files were in CVS format if that helps any I have a garmin nuvi 250W

I downloaded the GPSU shareware yesterday. I can't get it to accep any POI files. The message indicates that the 1st character is unreadable. The raw file shows a - as the first character. Is this wrong?

Am I correct in assuming that if I bought the subscription to FM-Traffic via Clear Channel I can use both the free Navteq and Clear Channel. I live in Buffalo, NY and Navteq works here, but when I travel east to Boston there is no Navteq service just Clear Channel. Thanks!

I've been reading about the Garmin 60 day map update guarantee, but I'm not sure I understand how it works.

Here's the scenario:

I bought my parents a new Nuvi 750 in November 20th. I gave the Nuvi 750 to my parents in December. My parents opened their gift and used the Nuvi on December 27th for the first time.

Given this scenario, how does the 60 day update work?

When in FM transmitter mode I'm still getting a little static over the car speakers. I am tuned the weakest station in my area 88.1 FM. If I hold down the battery symbol on the main screen all the test screens come up and hit "next" 4 times you will see the settings for FM.

I have a Garmin C320 with NT 7.0 maps on it. I'm several releases behind the current maps.

But so far in every use the NT 7.0 maps have been fine, and I have been able to get to any place I need to go.

That said, how do I figure out if I need the new maps? Does Garmin or some site or service offer detailed comparisons of what the new maps offer?

I was trying to use the Language demo in the 760 and regardless of words or phrases when I pushed on the speaker icon, I get a response of "Unable to load language" Do I need to download the language that I want from the website? It appears as though many languages already exist in the 760.

Second question: Has anyone used the language function in their travels?

I have a Nuvi 255W, and just recently updated to 4.8 firmware, which gives ECOroute capabilities, and also to the new map that is available, which is now 2009.11 (if you download it directly from Garmin). I don't know if you will get 2009.11 if you order the CD, depending on when they went froom 2009.1 to 2009.11.

I am interested in purchasing a used Nuvi 350's cheap. It must work and be in very good to excellent condition. Updated maps are not important as I can do that.

They liked it, but thought the 785T was a slightly better navigator and much better bargain.

This morning I noticed a retailer offering the lifetime maps for nuvi, on a preorder, for $109. Less than the garmin site.

It's my first post to POI Factory, glad to know there is a support group like this. I've been using my Quest 1 for the last 3 years and now have a new Nuvi 755T. I'd like to get all of my waypoints and routes copied from the Quest over to the Nuvi but don't quite know where to start. I have the Quest data saved to my PC in City Navigator 2008 version.
