Nuvi 760 Hung up

One of the 760s we have in our trucks was hung up with a blue screen that said "updating Blue Tooth firmware - 0%". I disconnected the power and rebotted it and it came up okay. Is this something the Blue Tooth compatible units do (ie - reaching out for firmware updates via satellite)?

Not the process

Did you run webupdater recently?

Web Updater

I updated all of the firmware when I bought the units a couple of months ago. Haven't updated them since. We have over 20 of the 760s mounted in our service trucks and they are attached to custom mounts that make it difficult to remove them for updating. This one has been working fine for a couple of months. It has not been removed from the truck since we installed it. It's as if it was trying to update its Blue Tooth firmware, via satellite, on its own.

When you run WebUpdater, the update files are copied to the nuvi and are then executed by the nuvi itself on the next power cycle. Sometimes though, the additional updates such as Bluetooth, MSN Direct, Traffic receiver & others are performed after a few power cycles.

No updating on the nuvi is ever done wirelessly by Bluetooth, satellite or otherwise.

Thanks

Thanks, DorkusNimrod (I hesitate to ask where that name came from). I guess rebooting was the correct solution. At least now I'll know what's going on if another driver brings me the same problem.

Are you actually using Bluetooth?

This is actually a known bug. Garmin service told me to delete the gupdate.gcd file but that did not cure this occasional problem. It's just a obscure bug when using Bluetooth. Are your drivers actually using Bluetooth? I would think that in a noisy truck environment it would not be that useful. At any rate, turning off Bluetooth in the menu makes this go away.
