Since you mentioned "Current.gpx" and that is a copy of your favorites, I checked to make sure that the 750 is the same as all the other units. It is -- 500 waypoints in Favorites.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

use custom poi

If you use custom poi, may be many poi can use.

Yeah, the unit can store 500 Waypoints. Once you get to that, you will get a message that your memory is full and you will not be able to load any additional Favorites until you delete some.

The number of Custom POIs is limited only by the space available, but those aren't part of the current.gpx. And as noted above, it's important to remember that the current.gpx is only a copy of the data. The actual data is stored in memory on the unit that is not user accessible.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I should have been more specific---I am referring to the Garmin\GPX\current.gpx file that stores tracks. One of the files I downloaded was approx. 300kBytes and it contained about 1700 waypoints. I was wondering how far I can drive before the allocated memory fills or starts overwriting the earliest data. Thanks again,Jim

As track log will hold 10,000 points before it starts over.

But you are confusing several things. The track log does not hold waypoints. It has track points. And the limit isn't based upon the file size. And it isn't based upon the memory that the user sees as available.

The data is stored in an area that is inaccessible to the user. The current.gpx is only a copy that is created when the unit enters USB Mass Storage Model.

Where did you get the info about 10,000 track points ? Thanks

10,000 is the Garmin standard size. The handhelds have always used this limit and the zumo series uses this limit. The zumo series is a little bit different in that it will archive the trip log at 10,000 points, save it, and start a new. The nuvis that support the stored trip log don't have that added feature, however.
