Garmin talk

I have a NUVI 350 and have installed custom POI's from this site. When I have used the menu items for Food, and recreation on the NUVI, I get no matches found.

Does the use of custom POI's replace the Garmin installed ones?

Clarification would be appreciated.

Lately, I have been having trouble acquiring full satellite signal on my Garmin Nuvi 255 and my wife's Nuvi 255W. This is on a clear day, out in a field, anywhere. Sometimes, whilst driving, my car icon "drifts" off the road and if in an urban area, onto another road. This is getting quite annoying, especially when the "other" street is a one-way. I have the latest firmware.

When looking at the properties of a Waypoint when Garmin speaks does it announce the text in the "Name" box or the text in the "Comment" box

What causes my 250W to flash all kinds of jumble before it settles down to proper route,takes about 1-2 seconds?

I know for an ordinary POI file alert you must be on the actual road the POI is on even if you manually set distance to a large number like 15000 feet in POI Loader.

I installed a gpx file with mp3s. I have since deleted it, but still when I browse the mp3 files, the old gpx associated mp3 files show up, first on the list of mp3s.
Mp3 folder is empty, current.gpx only has three locations, and is the only .gpx file on the unit, Poi.gpi is empty. How do I flush that junk out of the memory?

I was wondering how your Garmmin handles divided roads where you travel. Does it navigate so that your final turn is always a right turn? I need to try a few addresses near where I live to see how it handles situations where an address is on the wrong side of the street to make a turn.

When creating the coordinates for a site, where do I find them or how to read them?

Have a Garmin 660 that I recently down loaded the 2010 updates on line. Was traveling on a new road not showing on Garmin screen, and it lockup. Turned the unit off, turned on and everything was fine.
What is this an indication of, never a problem before traveling on new roads.

I've just purchased a Garmin 1390T. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the time correct on the unit.

I'm a little disappointed with how POI function on my Nuvi 265WT. I downloaded the Burger King location POI and the sound alert and BMP file in the pkg. here.

When I upload a route onto my 760 and then go to My Data and import it how do I delete the upload file from the Import Route from File list. I know it seems to only hold a certain number of files but I would like to delete the uploaded file from the list once the route has been added to my Routes.

I still use a C330 and want to know what features on your newer GPS are the how did I ever live without this feature...

Just curious. I need some ammo when I tell my wife we should replace are perfectly functioning old GPS.

I have made folders on my computer>My POI's, then made subfolders of the different subjects,ie, drug stores, grocery stores, fast food, etc. But when I use POI loader to put on the nuvi(765T) it just puts in one file>poi.gpi. How do I get it to keep in separate folders so on updates just have to update the one that is updated? I know I am missing something but what

I've discovered a small problem using the latest ver of Unflag and MapSource Ver.6.15.6.

Hi, I just bought the GTM 20 the manual stated that there is an external antenna available. I can't seem to find it. If I can't, is there a way to make one? I would think it would be a single wire attached to the proper plug (if I can find one).
Otherwise does anyone know where I can get one and the cost. If it's inexpensive, it might come in handy in fringe areas.

the 755 was teh right match for my needs

looked around - saw it was going for $450 on garmin's site, found it at fry's for $350, at amazon it was just over $300 ($309 billed to my amex)
