MP3 player on Nuvi

I installed a gpx file with mp3s. I have since deleted it, but still when I browse the mp3 files, the old gpx associated mp3 files show up, first on the list of mp3s.
Mp3 folder is empty, current.gpx only has three locations, and is the only .gpx file on the unit, Poi.gpi is empty. How do I flush that junk out of the memory?

.

Need more detail.

How did you install it?

How did you delete it?

Where is the file "showing up"?

What OS on the computer?

Detail

installed & deleted with Poi-Loader. Mp3 files show up under browse mp3s, Windows XP. I deleted the mp3.tmp file that garmin makes if you are in the middle of playing mp3 files. Had poi-loader delete all poi files. I have deleted everything that is not necessary on the unit.
I think that being a RAM drive, there is a memory cache that does not show up as a file. So deleting files doesn't get rid of it.
I start playing mp3s on the SD card, so that there is no reason for the player to remember deleted files. Then turn off the unit. But upon restarting the unit, they still show up when I Browse the mp3s.
I'm befuddled.

Maybe doing a reset on the

Maybe doing a reset on the unit will clear the hidden cache.

.

Well loading MP3 files in association with Custom POI file using POI Loader should not result in them showing up on the GPS unit at all. So that's weird.

POI Loader compiles the POI files and the associated BMP and MP3 files into a single file named POI.GPI.

If you were using a Mac, I would suggest that you connect the device back to the computer and empty the trash or search for the hidden .trashes folder that the Mac creates when you delete files.

Have you done a global search on both the unit drive and the SD card for the files including any hidden files?

?

Ralphy1,
Are you still using a 650, or have you switched to a new 8XX?

MP3

Yes, it is the old 650. I've emptied the trash, Haven't tried a reset yet, that might do it, Thanks.

Reset

Reset didn't work either, it kind of reminds me of the way current.gpx works, You can delete the file, but it will just be rewritten, You have to delete the entries under your favorites menu. Trouble is, I can't find a place to delete these mp3s.

SD card

Do you have a SD card? Maybe it went to the SD card also.

I couldn't delete something once and when searching my files on the unit and sd card I saw where poi loader made another file on my unit. One was POI and the other one was in another directory and named poi. I can't remember just where it was but search everything and see if their is another poi folder.

SD card

Even with no SD card inserted the files are there.

bin files

The only files that I figure could contain this info, is the .bin file. I have 2 one is 006B048201.bin (32k) the other is 006B047800.bin (471k). Anyone have any idea what they are?

OS

You didn't answer the question earlier about which operating system you are using on the computer. It's key to identifying a solution.

When I was using a Linux computer to add/change my MP3 files around, I had to get used to the idea that the default behavior when deleting a file is to keep it in a recycle bin local to the drive from which the file was deleted. Consequently, I had to empty the Trash before I could add any MP3 files after "deleting" them.

MP3 problem

After calling Garmin, and assuring them that everything they thought of had been done, one of the tech's was about to through up his hands in defeat, but decided to do a remote assist, he ended up deleting the recycle bin itself (after it had been emptied and contents shredded) and Voila! Somehow the files had gotten by the emptying, Weird!
FYI, I found out from him that you can delete the .bin files.

What are the .bin files? Is that the recycle?
Did you see where he went to delete the recycle bin?
I have deleted a file and put a new one with the same name on it and it shows twice. Don't know which one is the new one. Would like to know where the recycle bin is.
Thanks.

Delete

The .bin files are in the Garmin folder on your unit(You need to have it connected to your computer, then use windows explorer, or my computer, for a windows based system). The Recycle bin is either in the root directory or the Garmin folder(I don't remember). Keep in mind this was the first time the tech had ever come across this problem, so deleting the recycle bin is not really necessary(normally).

The bin files a I found are

The bin files a I found are in the ExData located in the Garmin folder. Not sure what they are for but believe a little more research is needed on internet before deleting.I have 8 of them.
