Garmin talk

Hello...I have uploaded two POI files, one in .gpx format and one in .csv format. When I go to browse off the POI loader they are not to be seen. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks.

The implementation of speed limits on my Nuvi 755T leaves quite a bit to be desired. It seems to be a visual feature only. You only know if you frequently look at the screen.

I often wish I could enable it to alert me of an upcoming speed limit change just like it would for an upcoming turn. Is there any way to do that?

Since I updated to 2010.2 I've been getting lockups about every other day. Going into the shut down screen (hold Speedometer for about 10 seconds from the Dashboard) it show RTL Trap, then the date. I haven't had time to reload 2010.2. Nuvi 760.

I was wondering if one of these views had a particular advantage, all of the time or in some situations, over another? Also, I have heard someone mention that 2d maps were more accurate, is this true? I'm interested in your opinions.

The 885T has an advertised battery life of "up to 4 hours". When taking it out of the charging cradle I was only getting less than an hour. I e-mailed Garmin and they sent this reply:

"The battery life is listed at 4 hours for the Nuvi 885. However, that would be 4 hours of battery life
if the unit was not being used at all, with all power consuming features turned Off."

Usability of custom POI search results would sometimes be A LOT better if we could make use of the second line of each search result item. In Garmin's search results, the second line seems to always be an address when it is present.

Try misspelling it. Better yet, try the first few letters. Let the Nuvi guess the rest.

I just got my first Garmin about 3 weeks ago (nuvi 780). On Friday we had storms roll through the area and my Garmin was showing a weather alert for my county. This surprised me because I haven't activated my MSN Direct sub yet?

Question: Does the MSN Direct provide free weather alerts even if you aren't a subscriber? As in, the alerts the National Weather Service issues?

I just got the "U.S. Recreational Lakes and Fishing Hot Spots" and the "Topo Map For the U.S." and installed them per the instructions. They are in my Map List on my Nuvi 680. But when I start it up, It looks the same as before I installed them. I thought the Topo Map would make my display look hilly or something different. Could someone please explain?

I'll apologize first if I'm not posting correctly, new here and not much time to read through everything right now.

Speed limits are shown on US streets and highways and not in Canada. I am wondering how the lenght of a trip is calculated if data on speed limit is missing.

If it needs speed limits info, why not showing them in both countries?

Just got a 765T and was able to pair my Nokia 6650 phone to it. However, I set my phone to automatically pair with the Gps, but when the Gps turns on, my phone gives me a message that it is connected to the Gps then in a few seconds it disconnects. Also my phone book does not show up in the Gps. Anyone else having a similar problem or know of a solution?

Just picked up a 765t and can't find where you enable or disable waas. Does anyone know if it is auto enabled or do they just hide it well on this model?

Just wanted to know if there were any speed cameras in the GTA, Toronto or Canada as a whole . If there are, where can i download POIs that display / identify where these cameras are located and give an audible alert upon approaching.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255 which I would like to increase the number of possible waypoint/favourites beyond the firmware imposed 1000 limit.

Does anyone know whether this can be done (via a hack) or whether this would be resolved by using a memory card?

I have exhusted this arbitrarly small number so quickly!

i am havin trouble savin to my garmin 775 when the file is saved like this on download ex.c:\garmin\state parks.csv it says the path name you have entered is not a directory,please specify the directory where your poi filesare located help where are they AG.

What is the differenc between Wass and HoHo receivers.
Is one better than the other. I beleive I have WAAS. But it seems my 855 can handle the HoBo receivers.

On my NUVI 360 I have speed cameras instaled.
When I pass a certain spot in Port Richi Florida I get a signal that says "Speed Camera 1mph"
I understand the Speed Camera alert, but what does the 1mph part mean?

I know I can load POIs into my Zumo, but is there any way to load POIs into RoadTrip (MapSource) so that I can create routes using the POIs?
