Here's an interesting innovation. GPS City is advertising the new EcoRoute HD Cable which is compatible with bluetooth enabled Nuvi series 1XXX (ie 1690,1490,1390,1370 & 1260)

This cable enables your nuvi to talk directly with your vehicle via the vehicles Onboard Diagnostic System (ODB)

Can the Nuvi 350 be upgraded to do speed check?

Can someone tell if my old bean bag mount will fit the new 1490T or 1390T?..They both have the ball and socket joint like the older nuvi 6XXs

Does anybody know when the next map update for nuvi will be out?

The nature of my job is such that I am in the car most of the day. I do have a laptop computer with a wirelss aircard and I use a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 throughout the course of the day. The IT folks will not let me add software to that computer, however. Are there any Garmins that allow the address to be received wirelessly?

I have a Nuvi 255W. Was able to add custom POIs, but having a tough time loading the voices/icons from Garmin Garage. What is the process? Also looking for free map update for this unit. Does one exist? Also looking for voices other than the couple in the garage. How about making my own custom icons?

I rode with a friend into Phoenix the other day. He requested Onstar directions to our destination.
I asked if Onstar showed distance to next turn. His answer was no.
When returning home in fairly heavy traffic we were in HOV lane with all traffic moving at the speed limit. Onstar announced the next turn in approx 1 mile.

i just set up a route using google maps and the google maps site said the miles was 396 to the destination when i sent to the Nuvi, and i looked it up in "favorites" it said the mileage was 336 miles???

i deleted it and tried it 2 more times with the same results

What are these files and can I move them to my backup folders ?

We drove from LA to Blythe today, very windy! The volume on our Nuvi 755 was working nicely. We turned it off when we stopped for lunch. After lunch the volume was so low we could barely hear it. We turned it up to 100% and still can barely hear it. We turned it off and on again. Any ideas on how to fix it?

You have to love Garmin! A firmware update is available for the four year old 310/360/370 models through webupdater. Change log reads:

Changes made from version 5.10 to 5.20:

* Fixed problem where certain voices could sound garbled.
* Fixed issue that could occur working with Safety Cameras.
* Corrected Eniwetok Time Zone.
* Corrected Spanish punctuation marks.

With my nuvi 755T came a "nuvi 705 quick start manual." Included with the entire package were several inserts for various accessories guides as well as a small booklet in several languages for "important safety and product information."

However, am I missing a more thorough manual? I looked completely in the box and did not find one.

I have owned Nuvi's that have the mp3 feature and was able to set up custom audio alerts. My question is, Is there anyway to have custom audio alerts on a nuvi that does not have a mp3 player built in?

As I understand, I receive one free map update within 60 days after I first use my GPS. If I retrieve that map tomorrow and a new version appears in 30 days, then I'm screwed.

Does anyone know when the next map update from Garmin will occur? If it matters, I have a 755T. I checked my map info on the unit, and it says:

CN North America NT 2010.10

CN North America NT 2010.10.3D

I'm a brand-new GPS owner, and my Garmin 755T arrived yesterday!

Very cool in many ways, but my very first venture was quite disappointing.

I wanted to go to a photo store named Christian Photo at 6721 Douglas Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, where it's been for over 10 years (probably much longer).

A Tourguide POI file is a POI file that has the text " Tourguide" in either the name of the folder, the file, or mp3 files associated with a POI file. The advantage of Tourguide POI files over regular POI files is that alerts are circular, rather than needing to be on the road on which you are traveling to get the announcement.

I havent been on for some time now. I wasnt travelling much. Now I need my garmin. I noticed there is a new update 6.10 for 2X5(W). When I connected my unit to the computer with web updater it said version 6.10 was available. Mine is 260W not the 255 or 265. I am wondering if its Ok to do this update for my 260W

Looking to buy the 1490T at Costco Canada..just wanted to find out if the old bean bag mount for nuvi 660 will fit the 1490T?
Also.. Does anyone knows if the lane assist is available in Vancouver area? Thanks!
