I currently have a Nuvi 680 and have been considering buying the Nuvi 1690 now that most of the bugs have been worked out. I noticed the 1690 uses the mini-SD card. Does the 1690 allow you to put your POI's (from here of course)onto the SD card and not use up intenal memory. Also, how big of card does the 1690 support? Thanks for your help.

I put a adress in my Nuvi 765t and it place me at an adress on the other side of town. The address was correct but the zip code was different. When inputting the adress I wasn't given the option of what zip to have (we have 2 zip codes in my town). Is there a way of changing the bogus zip code (I couldn't find a way)?

Has anyone used the CityXplorer add-on maps with the Enhanced Pedestrian mode? If so, what was your experience? Do you recommend adding the maps or not?

When I run POI Loader to load custom POI's to my nuvi 1690, the coordinates and name come over fine, but the address doesn't show up.

I tried using Extra POI Editor to create a gpx file, and the addresses don't come over either.

Does the 1690 require a different file format for POI imports?

On My 255w I am still a newbie, will admit that for now. If I go into a custom POIN for say Wendy's, it shows the list of Restaurants with mileage. For example, it may say 18 miles. Then if I click on it, the little route info box pops up and says 22.4 miles. Is the box actually adding the mileage and the other is estimating? What's the deal.

What is the file extension, and where are the files stored? I want to back them up off the unit, as I don't need them.

The default POI icons are a bit sparse, and I'd like to be able to add some that can be selected for any POI. Is this possible?

I'm reading the traffic discussions and see a lot of different opinions on traffic data. Some folks find it great and others thing it's often out of date or not very accurate. So I thought: Why not just start a thread where folks to list their home city and give others and idea of how good the traffic data is. Like a mini-review of traffic data but city-specific.

In the poifiles.txt file which identifies which file one wants to download, where do you get the location names where node=xxxx come from.

I like the program a lot & have made it work with the test data, but am not sure where the above info is found so I can download other files available.

I have edited some info went to load into Garmin and new info does not appear Any help ?

I assume the answer is no since I haven't found a menu button to do that. It seems to create custom folders for addresses, locations for which you entered lat/lon coordinates and such, but no custom folder names.

It'd be pretty nice if you could do that - have a folder for Camping, sights for a certain vacation, etc.

This is on a 255WT BTW.

Hi All - new Nuvi 265WT owner. Had my first week of driving to work with the traffic-enabled Nuvi. I like having the traffic info which thus far has been fairly reliable. This is potentially useful for me as I live on the west side of Cleveland and commute to the east side, and there are two main routes I can take, depending on traffic.

Is there a way to add notes to a POI thru Communicator? I used to be able to do it with my nuvi 250w but this new nuvi 765t will not let me. I am using gpx via easy gps program.

I have a garmin nuvi and it always shows the indicator arrow or auto at the intersection as the middle of the pointer not the tip as it should. Does anyone know how to offset this?

In my last post "765t Calculations" i would say that setting the Garmin Route Preference to "less Fuel" won't work as alandb pointed out why. Useless feature. The second one that eludes me is "Last Position" which Garmin explains in "Find Yourself, Your Car" In their support area it tells you how to use it. Bin there done that. It don't work.

This has never worked for me with the skips, but with the new software or firmware up grade for it I thought I'd try it again today. Well the skipping was cured, that worked to well. After I turned the MP3 player off the next alert turned it on again. Finally I had to quit and reset the destination.

Today i wanted to do some testing to see where my 765t comes from when it decides which route i should take. I never dabbled with this stuff with my old 260W. It didn't have all these options. Mama and i wanted to go for Brunch, so we decided to go to a Casino in Richmond. 50km round trip = 31 miles. From prior experience i notice this thing can do weird stuff. Hit my favorites and hit Casino.

should I expect from my Garmin 755t??

When I am at home....it shows that I am at an address that is about a 1/4 mile away.

I also noticed last night....that while sitting at an intersection where I was supposed to make a turn...the GPS showed me to still be 500 ft away.

What is going on??? Is my unit bad??

My previous Garmin was always within 50 ft of accuracy!!

Can anyone help me understand the use of POI's?

I am wrestling with the concept of POI's. Are they used or can they be used as a waypoint to navigate to or do they appear on my screen when I am in close proximity?

What are the uses for them? I have been reading the FAQs but the basic concept escapes me.

TIA
