Garmin talk

I live in Los Angeles and don't think the traffic receiver is very accurate.

Does anyone else have experience with the traffic receiver?

I just got a Nuvi 765T refurb.

I have until February 23 to run the map update.

It has map version 2010.10

Is this the latest version?

Is a new version expected before Feb., 23rd?

I just bought 1690 and used approx 1.5 hrs. and now when I turn on, I get white screen. Any ideas? New to gps world.

I downloaded the first POI to my nüvi 260W, put what now?

I can see the POI's on the nüvi's extra folder and I can search the POI's in there. Are the POI's suppose to be displayed on the maps or do I have to search for them every time?

If the POI's are not automatically displayed how much sense would it make for me to download the RLC locations?

I just activated the NuMaps Lifetime subscription and successfully downloaded it to the Nuvi 750. I have some questions about it. After updated to 2010.30, MyGarmin has a re-download button and says it expires on Expires: Jan 11, 2010. I hope this means that the current update re-download status expires and not the lifetime subscription. Can anyone assure me this is normal.

I downloaded, or tried to download, the Wal-Mart POI file using the Garmin software. The message at the end said that X number of POI were loaded. When I looked at the files on my GPS, I could not find anything that looked like the file I thought I downloaded.....should it not have shown up??? If not.....how do I determine that the POI were really loaded???

Hi. I bought a 765t for my wife (she had her last one stolen) for Xmas, and was excited about the handsfree phone feature. I have a couple of problems with the unit: We were able to sync her phone up easily with the unit, and it shows all of her addresses etc....However, when we place a call, you have to transfer the audio to the cell phone, answer it, and then transfer it back to the unit.

I've searched for this topic but must have missed it. I'm sure it's been covered here. I have my first GPS, a Garmin 255wt and I love it. I'm new to POI Factory and I've just loaded the McDonald's POI file. I'd like to use the McDonald pic I found here, but I have no idea how to load and use it.

Why do some custom Icons show up on map without zooming in & are not green looking & some like Red Robin do?

Over the weekend my 760 received an update sent by MSDN. I forget the exact terminology but it was something like "MSDN Receiver Software Update". It took many attempts to completely download. Does anyone know what this was for? I can not seem to find anything about it, and I dont see any changes in the MSDN section on the 760.

I noticed that after having upgraded my map, that my unit now chooses a different route going from my workplace to home.

In the past it would always route me the same way whereas now with the 2010.30 upgrade it routes me differently. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else ?

Since I always take the same way home, I know for certain that there hasn't been any new road construction which could cause this.

The route preference and avoidances are set the same as in the past. Does anyone have an idea why then it routes me differently ?

I got a new 765T for Christmas and I spent a few hours fighting with it yesterday.

When I hooked up the unit to my Macbook, none of the Garmin tools would recognize the device, nor would it mount the flash drive. However, it did work on my wife's Macbook, so it wasn't the USB cable or the device itself.

Hi I am new to the forum and some really good information.

I have tried to get my Nuvi 255W to display the custom POIs in subfolders but can't. It just displays all of them when I go to the custom POI display. I have subfolders when I look into the files of my Nuvi on the PC but not when viewing them on the Nuvi display.

Found the subfolder post and thought I did everything right.

Can it be possible that I am the only one who has noticed that starting with the release of CNNA 2009 Garmin/Navteq''s mapping has gotten messed up?

With the release of CNNA 2009 my home changed sides of the street.

Have on and only one question: When in use, does the Garmin Mobile PC display, across the top of the screen, the names of the next upcoming road?

Being new to this.....I saw a card available on Amazon.com that was good for unlimited updates. The card had an $80 price tag.

Will the Garmin 755T I received for Christmas be supported long enough for this to pay for itself? I think it said that it allowed up to 4 downloads per year.
