How do I erase old maps on my PC?

Would like to erase the 2010.30 map now that i have downloaded the 2010.40 map to my computer. Want to avoid clutter and using up disk space on the computer. Thanks.

How to delete Garmin mapping installed on Mac hard drive

If you have Garmin mapping installed on your Mac you can delete it from your hard drive.

Open the Macintosh HD

Open Library

Open Application Support

Open Garmin

Open Maps

You then need to delete the relevant mapping file from the list that is displayed.

Map Installer file will remain on your computer

Using the Windows remove program feature will delete a lot of files and make it so that Mapsource cannot see the map but if you downloaded the installer file “garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_30.exe”(or similar) to your computer and then ran it to install the map, the installer file will remain on your computer. On mine that file is 2.2 GB

accumulation of useless files over time

I have yet to find the perfect method to remove these pesky files that accumulate over time on my hard disk and take a ginormous amount of space. One useful utility is something like TuneUp Utilities that allow to identify the largest files and/or folders on your hard disk. If you know what you're doing, you may find several GB of old stuff that you can save. But again, you need to know what you're doing or you could brick your computer. A bit safer, utilities like Advanced SystemCare will identify for you what is probably an old remnant/installer code and clean it up for you.

Burn TO DVD

The hard drive on my older PC is not that big, so after installing and deleting the previous map set, I burn the garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_40.exe file to a DVD (won't fit on a CD) and delete the file off my hard drive.
