nuMaps Lifetime North America 2010.40 released

I'll install it as soon as I get home.

It seems that Garmin does not send their emails out like I signed up for.

Or, maybe the emails are staggered so it doesn't overwhelm the servers.

I should have waited.

After signing up a long time ago, I finally received my first email from them when the 2010.30 maps were released... about 2 weeks after DorkusNimrod posted the information here.

He's our Johnny-on-the-spot in such matters.

Now I'll have to decide if I want to update my 660 firmware to 4.80, or fake out the installer.

The other post is in the Open Talk forum. The post is much more useful here in the nuvi forum. Agreed they should be combined though.

is message I'm getting. It's a fatal error and then shows up that I've gotten the file. Anyone else having this problem?

Appreciate your always being the first to inform us. I am downloading now (seems site is busy, downloading at only 1.2mb/sec.
This time I will be careful in loading my maps. With the c530 I can only load 1 section of the country on the unit and the remaining on the card. Last time I must have missed some small areas when loading to the flash card as I didn't have a detailed map or directions in Edison, NJ. I don't know how to check to see if it is complete. Just take my chances.

Other Mac users are reporting the same error and have reported that it seems as though the Mac version has not yet been uploaded to the server.

Smooth as silk... 22 mins. to DL, 5 mins. to extract, and 36 mins to update the unit. No errors.

Besides the new North American Maps 2010.40, I have also read that the new Europe Maps are available too.

Of course, I very recently updated my maps on my 885t under their nuMaps guarantee.

Oh Well.... I shoulda bought an extra Lifetime card when they were $75 on Amazon.

I never get anything from Garmin.

Does any of you have seen some slight improvement in the new map? noticable area with improvement?

A quick look reveals some new roads and sub-divs on my map. Good to see.

The truth be known, it has to be hellish for Navteq to keep up on the worlds roads as there is so many projects going on. However, I'm glad I bought the lifetime updates!

Me too. I just updated to 2010.30 a couple of weeks ago. I thought 2010.40 wouldn't be released until late Feb or early March. My free 1 time map update expires on the 2nd week of Feb.

No email from garmin either...

This was the quickest download and install yet. Went to log in at My Garmin at 5:35pm and downloaded the map update, installed the map into my PC and installed it into my Garmin 885T and reboot was done and complete by 6:33pm.

That was definitely the fastest time I have ever had. They must have improved something in the process.

I, too have never received an email from Garmin.

I live in the DFW,TX area close to the new Highway 161 that has not previously shown to be completed past my house going south on the .30 map. The highway was opened south about 3 or 4 months ago from I30 to I20 and that portion now shows up on the new .40 map.

Are you sure that the update is available to all?

If you have a new unit that has not been updated in the 60 day grace period, or you have Lifetime updates (purchased), you can get an update for free.

Other than that, you have to pay.

Did anyone find any glitches yet, like all the other updates. i like to wait a few days to hear about any issues that are out there.

Considering it came out a few hours ago, you have to wait for that answer. But, I haven't had a map glitch yet.

Whew, I've gotta love that Garmin Download Manager. I lost my internet but not power at about 80% download--being in AZ, we're getting the big winter Storm #3 of the week from California and I was without internet access and some cable TV channels for a good hour. Once the internet came back up, Download Manager reconnected and finished the download. Yet even with the loss of internet mid-download, the file extracted and installed to my PC's Mapsource and to my nuvi 855 without a hitch.

Needless to say, my download took much longer than 22 minutes start to finish

do I ever get something from Garmin. I don't log in to their web site that much either. Maybe if they don't tell nobody gets their new maps. Thanks again for staying up to date. I thank you.

I will definitely download these new maps this weekend.

Thanks for the info but it didn't do me any good. Mine is a 750 with 2010.03. Garmin said that is the latest map, it doesn't show 2010.04 yet. Maybe I need to wait.

My 60 day expires 1/27...I've been waiting and waiting....

I was wondering why I had never received email notifications of new maps... It looks like you have to sign up to get the email.

When you first log in to my.garmin.com, look on the right side of the page where it says 'stay up to speed' and click on 'sign up'. On the next page you have to put a check in the box "Please notify me by email of future map and software updates" near the bottom of the page. This was not selected on my preferences.

Thanks for the heads up. I have previously signed up for notification but never got any notification from Garmin about map updates.

Will have to leave the PC on overnight for both EU & NA map updates.

No problem doing the update.I also didn't get email even though I have signed up several times.I emailed Garmin a few months back and they found that I should be receiving emails on the map updates.They stated the problem was on their end with the system.I just emailed them again with this result of no email.

60 days expires 2/25. Have not downloaded any updates yet. My understanding is these are usually quarterly? If so I'll just download now and be done with it

I currently have 2010.10 on my unit

I live about 150 miles from mmullins98 and have spotted several updates to roads here that I thought should have been included in the maps at least 2 updates ago. Either NAVTEQ is catching up or they have concentrated efforts in Texas as these long awaited updates have been included in this release.

The new update for my Nuvi 350, garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_40, is 2.06 GB. The last update, garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_30, was 2.16 GB. Is Garmin providing less info or are they more efficient?

It probably was right in front of me but where on the Garmin site does it say that the latest map update available is 2010.40?

When I started the download, I could see that was what I was downloading, but I was doing the download only because of the info here - not because I knew anything from the Garmin site.

It may be a slightly smaller update than the previous one. This is a supplement to the base maps.

Wow. I just bought the lifetime maps very recently and downloaded the update. I got it when Amazon had it for $79. Many thanks for letting us know there's already another update!

I'm hoping there's another one again before July rolls around. We're heading to Washington then for GeoWoodstock VIII.

I installed mine without any problems. I will test it while going back to home this evening.
