Do any of the new Garmin's display the upcoming street name anymore? I drive a delivery truck and this helps after the snowplows knock down the street signs. My 200w does this but my new 205w does not
No
They don't anymore due to an alleged lawsuit.

Suit
What is the reason for the lawsuit?
No matter where you are "Life is Worth Living".
Allegedly...
Infringement on displaying the upcoming street names. However, it seems to be hard to find any court docs on the 'net to verify this.
It's a big 'Hmmm' for now.

Only on the interstate
The 265WT seems to only provide next exit/intersection when I'm on an interstate highway. Once off the highway, it reverts to telling you which road I'm currently on.

That's another feature I miss from my SPIII.
street name display
My Nuvi is a 255WT. Like HEBurk's Nuvi 265WT, it tells you what street your driving on in the top banner. It will however show you the side street names on the map. I have my resolution set quite close. By the way that so-called law suit sounds pretty phony.
guess i need to find out who sued them and buy there unit
Look like thats the only way i will get this option back. Its a darn shame as this was so helpful
law suit or not...
...this should be a user-configurable option. Some users would prefer to see the next upcoming cross street (myself) while others would prefer to see the name of the street they are on. I have heard this request split pretty much 50/50 ever since it was changed in the xx5 series and newer units.

that would be nice
when I got my 765T, my first GPS, I had no point of comparison, and therefore didn't miss a feature I was unaware of.
but after reading several posts by DN and others, including his excellent original review of that model, I would have to agree that having it be a configurable option, would be very handy.

crazy
that seems ridiculous. how could it possibly be an infringement on displaying the upcoming street names?
Action Against Garmin Patent Infringement/intellectual property
What is the reason for the lawsuit?
United States Patent #5557524
The invention creates a map plot as the vehicle and/or non-vehicular carrier moves, by plotting the precise point-by-point position, such as, once per second, in a continuous fashion by user selectable route terminology, or by automatically selected route terminology according to its approximate latitude/longitude location in reference to the current precise latitude/longitude position data. User entry of the road type, river, trail, or other route as travel proceeds, automatically introduces the corresponding map symbology from one precise location point to the next precise location point. This invention provides pertinent information for the map plot including, but not limited to, street names, river names, beacon locations, locality names, point-of-interest names which are automatically searched out of a data file according to whether their approximate latitude/longitude location is within the user selectable range from the current precise latitude/longitude position. The present invention does not require a pre-stored map, however such a map can be provided as an overlay on the map being created, as a travel aid.
The invention provides the algorithms for computing the user information data from the basic precise current position and altitude data precise current GPS three dimensional velocity data.
The foregoing has outlined rather broadly the more pertinent and important features of the present invention in order that the detailed description of the invention that follows may be better understood so that the present contribution to the art may be more fully appreciated. Additional features of the invention will be described hereinafter which form the subject of the claims of the invention. It should be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the conception and the disclosed specific embodiment may be readily utilized as a basis for modifying or designing other structures and methods for carrying out the same purposes of the present invention. It should also be realized by those skilled in the art that such equivalent constructions and methods do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

Am I missing something here? My unit shows at least 3 blocks ahead depending how large the blocks are. It shows me the cross street names. Regular map and also traffic map.

Street Names
I've noticed with my 755t that the level to which I'm zoomed into changes the amount of detail displayed.
Discussed before?
I think this is the same topic as discussed in:

Am I missing something here?
What you're missing is that past units (namely non-xx5 units) previously showed the next upcoming cross street name in the green info bar at the top of the map screen when NOT navigating a route. The green info bar now shows the street you are currently on instead.
xx5/1xxx series green Info Bar operation:
Not on a route or a Go To:

Not on a route or Go To (on a freeway):
