Webupdater is not used for updating maps. You can update maps on my.garmin.com with or without using myDashboard. I personally don't use myDashboard for anything.

Long download

And make sure you allocate a good 3 hours of your time grin

Wow

3 hours? Mine was less than an hour from DL to finishing the update...

Depends on USB

My c530 is USB 1, and it is slow. Also, I have to run twice as c530 cannot hold the entire map and I need to load the remainder on the SD card (load to SD card through computer instead of through GPSr as I can then load using USB 2).

SD card

Why not just put the whole map on the card then? It sounds like it would save you time and grief.

Map on SD card

I've thought about that, but was concerned about the operation speed of the c530. I'm just assuming that the memory is faster than the SD card. There seems to be a delay when I look up built in POIs that are in areas that are on the SD card.
Does anyone know for sure?

Also, I don't believe the NuMaps Lifetime download allows you to load directly to an SD card. It needs to load something to the GPSr or to the SD card through the GPSr. I guess that would prevent you from using the download on more than one GPSr.

.

The 530 uses solid state mem, and the card is flash mem. They should be very close in terms of speed. However, if a regular SD card isn't fast enough, they do have Class 4 and 6 cards that offer higher transfer speeds. I'm not sure if they're compatible with your unit though.

Maybe a different SD Card??

Not up on all the lastest sd cards out there but aren't there cards out there that read at faster rates than others?
