Garmin talk

All of a sudden I am not receiving live traffic maps on my Nuvi 680 with the MSN Direct. I do receive weather, movies and fuel prices so I know I have a signal. Oddly the unit is giving me updates for traffic when I'm navigating but is not showing anything on the MSN Map. Is anyone else having this problem?

I see that Europe announced the Garmin Nuvi 1490TV for that market, I suspect that something like this will be available in the United States, if ATSC-M/H ever takes off.

If this has been previously discussed. I wouldn't be surprised, though for some reason I can't find anything regarding this specific matter.

How come everytime one would browse or search around on a Nuvi they see these very cool icons representing various locations/businesses etc.

I was thinking about getting a Garmin 1390T. Does anyone have any comments or recommendations for other units? The 1390T seems to have good ratings.

We had lots talk about buying a new GPS. But I didnt notice any post regarding taking care of a device. I mean its a silly point for discussion but still your experience can save money for others before wasting money on unnecessary things.

Has anybody heard anything if garmin is going to do anything when MSN Direct Stops

I'm a little confused about this? If I were to purchase a GTM-25 Traffic Receiver, would I still need to purchase a traffic "subscription" for it to work?

When I set Navigation/Voice Prompts, on my NUVI 350, I get a choice of None, Guidance Only and Guidance/Status.

Needless to say, the Garmin manual is slightly lacking (well, totally lacking) about this. I can understand Guidance, but what is Status supposed to advise me about?

I downloaded a vehicle for my GPS, but I would like to change the colour.

Does anyone know how I can make this change to an srf file.

My new 755 seems to be less accurate than it should be. I have spoken with Garmin and done a hard boot but still have some issues.

If I type in my address for Home... the GPS shows that my address is about 2 blocks away from its actual location. This happens even if I input the coordinates.

If i ever thought for a minute Garmin would listen i'd ask them to make an icon that would take you back to the main screen. Ever go into Unit to check some stuff or change things and then you have to hit the back button 60 million times to back to the main screen? Just me or other people find that a pain also?

I have a Garmin 855. It did not come with Traffic Alert.
Can I add the Traffic Alert? What do I have to do to make that happen.

I just loaded 2010.4 update onto my Garmin 1690.I noticed that while driving on major highways the update now includes "roads" that are not exits. Hence the unit now has (the obnoxious) "Road Ahead" in the banner where the exit information used to be. Once you pass the "road" it puts the next exit. This is just plain stupid as no one can exit anyway. Anyone else experiencing/annoyed by this?

Anyone know how to cancel a via point on a 255W/T without cancelling the destination? I entered a destination, then another, to create a via point. I arrived at the via point location, but it didn't want to recognize that I was there. Once I moved on towards the final destination, the unit kept trying to reroute me back to the via point.

If I load a bunch of POI files to my Garmin will those results come up when I am searching for a place to navigate to? For example, if load all the McDonalds using POI loader and in that list are locations that aren't in the internal memory of the unit, will they show up in search results when looking for a McDonalds?

I have created several custom GPX files and loaded them into my NUVI 255W. My Nuvi only displays the first 52 POI's in a file. i.e. when I page down the list of places it stops at POI 52(13 pages of 4 POI's). Is this a known limit on the GARMIN Nuvi? I thought my files were corrupted but I think it's a limit on my Garmin. Anybody know?

I want to install some new POI files in my Nuvi but can't see the full name and extensions on my laptop running Win. XP. I know there is a setting to change this somewhere but I don't remember how to do this.
Can anybody help?

I was driving along Hwy 91A.. there were 2 places where junction view pop up.. and on my way back from US along 99
North..junction view pop up again just before exit 16 to 91A..way to go Garmin..and there were lane assist at a lot of intersections...

I've seen a similar post for this question, but can't find it. I have a 765t and looking at it i see a bunch of files that i want to delete. But what's what in there? In Audible I had those book thingy's deleted them. Text, vehicle. voice, help, lex_pkg and reports are no brainers.
