Thanks dave817 for updating the POI. Your timing is perfect. We're headed cross country to do a Fall Color ride on the east coast. Always good to have an updated POI with the dealer locations on a trip like this.

Hello, I am new to the site. I am travelling to the New England States and wanted to try the DinersDrive-insDives gpx program. How do i load it on a nuvi 255W or a nuvi 1390?

The nuvi detour is rather stupid. If you click 'detour' it goes off and does something but it's not always clear nor is is what you want.

The old StreetPilot I had (2820) made much more sense. If you hit 'Detour' you got:
- detour by traffic
- detour by road in route
- detour by mileage
(I think that was it - there may have been more)

Traffic was obvious.

There was an article in today's Washington Post identifying a speed camera installation & operation on the Capital Beltway (route 495). It is currently operating although speeding tickets won't be issued until Aug 21 - only warnings now.

I don't have coordinates for it, but perhaps someone else might have them. If so, post them so we can alert Miss POI.

The great (and free! although donations are welcomed) Arizona topo map (1:24k detail) has just been updated to version 2.11. The Changelog states that additional trails have been added to the previous 2.10 version.

So if you're an Arizona hiker, it could be time to update your AZ topo map -- or to be a 1st-timer creating an AZ topo for your handheld GPS or nuvi, etc.:

My old reliable Nuvi 350 has finally failed and I need to need to decide between the 2300 at $119.00 and 1450lmt, which is $50 more. No better place to ask than the expert folks here! Is it worth the difference in price? Thanks.

On two occasions, my gps had a proximity alert and a strange red icon. It seemed like there were two alerts happening, from the red light file here, and from Garmin.

2012.2 is available.

Hi everyone,

I purchased a nuvi recently on eBay. I went online to register it, yet it was already registered. I contacted the individual I won this from on Ebay to have it deregistered from their account. The individual couldn't find the account used to register it.

So, I called Garmin. They contacted the registered owner via email and the registered owner claims it was stolen.

While POI Factory is a favorite site, I always liked to go to GPS Magazine to read reviews of new GPS's. Does anybody know what happened to this site? It appears to have been on auto pilot since May. No updates, no new information.

Until yesterday I was running POI Loader 2.4.2.0 and had no problems loading POI’s (I know change comes slow for me, used Netscape longer than anyone else)

I have a 3790lmt. The manual show how to Set Location, but, doesn't show how to Unlock Set Location.

More Loquacious?

Before my recent update to my 3790LMT (SV 4.20) whenever the direction took me to a ramp that entered the Baltimore Washington Parkway, either North or South, the voice instructions stated "Take ramp to Baltimore" [even though I might be going South in the Washington D.C. direction.]

Just downloaded some custom POI and followed the directions for installing with prox alerts. Tested it out today and there is no warning.

Qustions about this:

1. Are all POI that include an mp3 proximity capable?

about the location of the jcv file. I've looked in the Garmin folder and all that's in it is garmindevice.xml and lex package. So were is this file? I'm using an imac with snow leopard. So if anyone can help me see the file that I don't see thank you.

I received the North America 2012.1 DVD and installed the new maps. I don't see a way to delete the 2008 map from MapSource. Do I have to uninstall via Control Panel?

Can someone please help me with some settings on the 765 that I recently picked up. I am trying the unit out and getting used to it here around home before we head out on a trip and I notice that to places I go all the time it takes me the long way around hence taking more time. When I go the way I normally would it recalculates and comes back with a shorter time.

Has anyone loaded a Nuvi GPX tracklog into Google Earth and noticed that the time stamp for each track point has a funky time? If I load my track log into Mapsource the track points have the right time. At first I though it was in 24H format, but it's not.
