problem removing RestAreasCombined file

Installed above file in "My POI" folder on Win7 desktop.

Deleted at later date but my Garmin Nuvi 680 still beeps out a rest area location in the Santa Ana area of Los Angeles.

I inspected the folder, no file.
I did a search thru windows explorer, no file.

Comments are appreciated.

TIA.

POI Loader

After downloading the Rest Areas Combined csv file, I assume you ran POI Loader to install the file to your nuvi 680.

To remove the installed POIs on your nuvi, re-run POI Loader. You'll be given the option to remove the previously installed files. Deleting the csv file from your computer won't remove the POIs from your nuvi without re-running POI Loader.

look for

Look for a My POI.GPI file on your unit and delete it.

always run POILoader after any change to POI folder

I understand the process. Always run POILoader when adding new or deleting old POIs on PC to update the device.
Understand that POILoader deletes the existing POI file on the device before loading the POI file on the PC.

More correct, POILoader over-writes the POI file.

duplicate .gpi files

it is possible there is duplicate .gpi perhaps with another name.

There was another poi.gpi file in the same folder as My Poi.gpi file.. I had to delete that one.

Finally!!

on which version of POILoader is being used. Recent versions of POILoader DO NOT create the file poi.gpi any more. They let the user specify the name.

What that means is the older versions of POI files may still be in the (gps):\Garmin\POI folder on the GPS. To check, attach your GPS to your PC and navigate to the POI folder and see what is there.

Rest Areas Combined

Also realize that MrKenFL who maintains the Rest Areas Combined file includes a version code in the file name. So unless you change this name to something different, you will need to explicitly find and delete the old version when updating to the new version of Rest Areas Combined.
