Garmin talk

I, stupidly, did the 5.40 update which caused me to lose my custom POI icons and now the preloaded poi are showing up (gas stations and such) and I'd like to rid myself of them. I cannot find any way to do so on the machine. I searched for help on this but saw no posts...any thoughts?

I have a nuvi 2340

On a previous nuvi235 i set up a poi file with the company logo as a BMP file which displayed when selected poi was shown

on the 2340 i can only display it as a black dot. All other POIs from PocketGPS display logos correctly.

So far to try and correct this i have:
changed bmp file to same size as those which work.
deleted file on GPS and reloaded file.

How do I move the addresses I have saved from one garmin (265tw) to another (nuvi 1490?

Seeing posts about recovering a garmin after its corrupted made me think....

How would one backup a garmin, when it's perfectly fine, so as to have a backup of it, in case it gets scrambled later????

Seeing that everything is fine here now.... what procedure should I use to back up the Nuvi 660, and if it gets corrupted in the future, what procedure would I use to restore it?

In setting a route, I want to travel through an intersection of let say a state highway 395 and I-5. How do I enter such intersection? What would be the exact spelling?

The new unit says it has Garmin Guidance 3.0. Traffic from the HD Radio Network, Voice-activated navigation,etc.

I wonder if I will I see a performance update from a 765t with LMT?

It has shipped according to Amazon, so maybe someone has been using one? Recommendations appreciated.

How do you find out what changes are made when you install a software update to your device (1490 to be specific)?

Is there a way to download data from a 855, such as: Total Time/Moving Time/Stopped; Overall Avg/Moving Avg?

In May of this year I was going to Upstate New York with my sister from Long Island she was using her new nuvi Gps and I also turn my old garmin C550.

Anyone run into a similar problem? When I touch the camera icon or hit the camera button on my 295W the screen locks up. Everything else works fine. I can power down and all is normal again until I try the camera. So far I tried the camera diagnostics (locks up) and a master reset. Have removed the battery several times. Contacted Garmin via email and expect a response next week.

I have just purchased a Nuvi 1340 Satnav and have tried to update the maps. Unfortunately, I got an error message before the process finished and it has also wiped out the maps previously loaded.

Can anyone help me please? I am new to SatNavs and am not particularly computer literate.

When I launch Mapsource it tells me the City Navigator North America NT 2008 map I used with my Nuvi 260 has expired and that new maps are available for purchase, I now have a 2460LMT with the NT 2011 map, when I try to receive from device [2460LMT] [map] to Mapsource it tells me there are no maps in the unit to download.

Has the small POI icon size been resolved for the 37xx series? If so, can someone point me to the link? Tried to do a search, but nothing showed up...

Here is an odd one. It's not a real big deal, I'm just curious if anybody has experienced anything similar.

I have noticed on my 1490LMT that after last map update 2012.20. It has lost lots of junction views now. I used to get junction view on Hwy 427 South bound at the 409 Split etc. But not any more. And even junction view for 401 West from 427 South. They all disappeared. Is there any way to put them back again?
