has the 255W been replaced by a new model if so which one?

I will be getting a new computer that I will boot into Ubuntu, which is a Linux based operating system. The computer will be dual boot, so I will still have access to Windows should I need it.

Any advice on managing the Garmin Nuvi 650 using Ubuntu directly? Or should I simply plan on booting into Windows and doing my upgrades the "old" way.

Where do you the coordinates to decimal degrees from min and secs.

I've put a number of POI files on the 3490 - but on the road, the BMP icons I've included, 24X24, end up being about 1/4 the size of the standard Garmin icons. Almost too tiny to see!

It's true of the speed camera, red light camera and Starbucks icons.

Here's a screenshot. The big Starbucks is the Garmin icon - the rest are the ones I loaded.

Is there any way to hard wire the 3490 to a car's electrical system and maintain the traffic service?

$255.99

A new firmware update for the 2595LMT is out as of Nov 3. It seems to address several problems that I have been having with this unit but there are many more to go.

By the looks of it there are updates for several other units as well.

I'm heading to Europe and wanted to take my Nuvi 265WT to use as a handheld. However, preliminary testing looks like the battery lasts only about 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Not nearly long enough for walking around all the cities we plan to visit.

I recently purchased (and am using) a 2460LMT. I notice now that when the traffic icon turns yellow or red, it no longer lists a number beside it for the traffic delay. Not a problem,just wondering.

I'm planning to take a trip to Europe and wanted to ask if it's possible to install European maps on my Nuvi 265WT. If so, will this overwrite the existing North American maps on my Nuvi or will the European maps be added to the existing North American maps?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 2460LMT which by the way is a fantastic model in my opinion which rivals even the higher end models - including some of the new ones. It has a full feature set with a large screen and voice recognition which only a handful have.

Latest POI Loader
Windows 7 64 bit system.

The latest POI loader has been working flawlessly on this system. Tried to update POI files this morning and the APP keeps crashing half way through the first process.

Tried what Garmin recommended on their FAQ, deleted POI Loader, went into and fixed registry items. The reloaded and tried to run again. Same error.

Any ideas?

I was downloading a route from Mapquest and my GPS 3790LMT went dead. Any idea what went wrong. I received the msg that my computer was not recongnizing my gps. Unhook from computer and now it will not turn on.

Hey everybody. Just curious if anyone has bought a hard shell case for their GPS. I'm looking for something that will withstand some abuse....like if a heavy box got dropped on it, or it got stepped on by accident......it needs to be pretty sturdy.

Oh, and don't ask why I need this....it's a sad tale.

Does anyone experience the Nuvi 3490 & 3790 not connect with USB 3.0 on PC?

I'm using Sony Vaio laptop with NEC USB 3.0 chipset. It does charging but not syncing.

I also have the older model Nuvi 765T which is working well with USB 3.0.

I found that my phone, that worked with my old nuvi, is incompatible with my new 2495LMT. Garmin support tells me that more phones will be added. If you want a new Garmin and require "out of the box" compatibility with your phone, you might wish to check the following link:

I have a Garmin 1350MFT. I had no problem downloading Redlight Camera and Speed Camera .csv and the associated custom made .wav alert files. However, the .bmp files that I downloaded from this site do not appear. Yes, I made sure the bitmaps had the exact names as their associated .csv files. I just can't figure it out.
