I've created several custom POI files. Can only one POI file be loaded at one time in the GPS? I reached the 10,000 max on one file so created a second POI file. Is there a way to load both POI's at the same time?
Hi, I'm new to the forum, having just bought a Roadmate 1412. My map version is 31, and I understand that Magellan will update to the latest version within 30 days of purchase. Can anyone tell me what the latest map update is? The Magellan website doesn't seem to be of much help. They mention Spring 2009, but it doesn't say what version number that is.
I have a problem when I try and update my firmware. I have downloaded the update and run it as instructed. I get to the point of hooking up the gps to the usb port. The gps trys to install as a video controller and will not install correctly. When I run the update software the program does not find the gps.
Can anyone give me some insite as to how to correct this problem.
Magellan has just released the new "Roadmate 1700" with a large screen and some other new widgets built in.
Here's a copy/paste of the news release:
New Magellan RoadMate Brings the 'Big Screen' to Car Navigation
The New Magellan(R) RoadMate 1700 Combines Power-Packed GPS Features, a 7-inch Screen And Ease Of Use To Provide A Safe And Stylish Navigation Experience
I bought a used RoadMate 3000T about a month ago so I'm still a nooby.
There are a series of turns to get to my home in the neighborhood.
When I enter an address, the GPS takes me out of the neighborhood in one direction, but it brings me back on a different route on the return trip.
It doesn't matter if I chose shortest time or shortest distance.
Is this normal?
I live in NYC and I have the luxury/good fortune of not traveling during rush hour. I'd like to be able to avoid tools where possible (at 5.50 a pop, it can add up). So far my 1340 and the 1212 I owned prior to it seems to ignore the "avoid tolls" setting unless I select the option for least use of freeways.
I am fairly new to the gps world. Recently, I researched different gps products to find something that fit what I wanted. I wanted to have street maps, trail maps and lake maps. I wanted it to have a touch screen and a long battery life. What I came up with was the Magellan Crossover. I found one on E-bay that the seller said was taken out of the box but never used.
Help! My 1412 startup screen suddenly shows a white background with a serial # input screen. When I input my unit's s/n, the gps won't accept it and I have been "stuck" on that screen for 2 weeks now. Magellan has tried to troubleshoot it unsuccessfully over the phone. I get a message on the 1412 saying "Please Insert MGNSHELL Card" Any ideas?????
A friend just gave me a b&w Meridian Gold GPS unit that he no longer used (he has a newer color model).
I am trying to get familiar with it and have a couple questions.
1. The installed firmware is Rev. 5.40 Oct 14 2004. From what I could find on the Magellan website, this appears to be the latest version. Does anyone know if that is correct?
Magellan Roadmate 1440-1470 firmware update from 1.10 to 1.15

* Enhancements made to improve GPS acquisition time
Greetings, I have a question regarding my GPs.
I travel with a Magellan RoadMate 1412. So far its been doing its job minus some personal vexations.
I really like my Magellan Roadmate 1440, i recent drove from Toronto to SW Florida using it.
What i am curious about is there a way to load custom POI files onto the device. I've seen other forms suggest that Magellan developed a software for POI editing, but i have been unlucky in finding it for the 1440.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
I just loaded the 2009 Maps on my wife's Nuvi 350. Everything works fine. However, I also have a copy on my computer's hard drive that is saved. Is there any reason to keep them on the hard drive? They can't be re-installed again.
I am thinking of the 1470 to replace my 760. One future I use a lot is the upload of routes from Mapquest into my 760. I am having trouble finding out whether you can uplad routes into the Magellan. Tahnks for the info. al
how do i change voices and voice direction on my magellan 4250
Seems like a dumb question, but where can I download the POI editor? I'm using Roadmate 800, and the CD that came with the GPS doesn't have this software included, I think. It only has the Recovery Tool software.
Thank you very much.
The only brand name icons I see when driving it the BP gas station..I wanted to create my own, there has to be a way to hack into the system and do this so I can add other gas stations as well as mcd and shiet. Anyone know how?
I am a Garmin user and admit I am very unversed in the Magellan lineup. I am considering the Nuvi 265wt (~ $220) and want to know if there is a good alternative that is slightly lower priced from another manufacturer.
Features I feel are valuable and put me into the 265wt are
I've done some more web research. It seems that the 4350/4370 use the iGo 8 software.
I'm not sure if later units use the iGo software. I found one forum reference that they do not.
First off hello to all and thanks in advance for any help. I recently bought my first GPS a Magellan 4350. So far I like almost everything about it. The two quibbles i Have are 1:even though there is a picture of headphones stamped into the unit there is no jack (I've bypassed this by switching to fm modulation and buying a 15$ fm radio at Target So I can use headphones on my motorcycle).
