Different passcode prompt
After downloading the 18.7.3 / December 2025 update, my iPad displayed a different window than I'm used to asking me to enter my passcode before it would install the update.
I think of my iPad passcode as alphanumeric, a combination of six letters and numerals. But the new prompt didn't show the phone keypad I still see when opening the iPad from sleep or after restarting; it showed a keyboard with numerals and symbols--no letters. I could switch the displayed keyboard back-and-forth to type in the alphanumeric passcode I'm used to, but that didn't work; the passcode wasn't recognized.
I had to convert my alphanumeric passcode to all numerals (using the numbers associated with the letters one sees on a phone keypad), without any prompt that helped me do that. That was confusing. I got it and got in, but I don't know why Apple changed it after allowing alphanumeric passcode entry on a phone-style keypad for years. I don't see any discussion about this online.

Not my experience with three iPads that range in age. I was prompted for a password (4-numeric) prior to the actual update process but that is all.

Maybe it's because I have a 6-digit passcode on this iPad. I don't know. Just odd. As I said I'm not seeing other reports of a change.

IPad Update
My wife mentioned that same problem and she had a six-digit passcode.
