Magellan Spring map update

I purchased the Spring 2009 map update and installed it in my Maestro 3250. Now when I start my car, after the warning screen goes away the main menu displays. Before the map would be displayed after the warning screen. I would not have to select show map.

Anyone else having this happen or know of a fix for it?

When I remove the SD card it reverts back to the old map version and the map is displayed after start up.

I have the latest 4.86 software update installed.

Normal ??

Both my Magellans have always worked like that....if there is no trip active.

I would say, just learn to live with it.

You could always go into the

You could always go into the user option menu to see if somethings apply or just try a reset. Most times when my 3250 acts crazy, a reset is in order.

Recently when announcing upcoming turns, it dropped saying the street name, and a reset corrected it.

Spring map update

I didn't wait long enough before I hit the show map. They added a 60 second delay for the menu to be shown before it goes to the map display.

Gotta ask........

So, if you do NOT have a trip active, what good does it do to have the MAP displayed ???

Do you just like to see the pointer follow you down the road ?? j/k

Or is this of concern to you only when you DO have a destination programmed in ??

Same situation with 4250

Got to say I am not impressed. They did the same thing with the 4250 and the unit is now slower to come up and get working.

The unit has th ememory to hold it all within the unit, but to make it easier on them, it must run from the sd card.

Not Impressed.....

Explain please ????

So just exactly WHY is it a problem that the unit boots up to the main menu? What possible good is it to have it go directly to the map???

AND .....did they offer that update on SD card ONLY....without instructions to cross-load it ??

I thought I had the latest map update and it came on CD.

The issue is that turning on the unit with the map on the SD card is resulting in a much longer boot up and location finding time for the unit, it is multiple minutes now (at least 200% longer than before). It is a question of start up speed.

They did not provide any instructions on how to transfer the maps to the unit directly and I am now on my third e-mail exchange with them over asking this specific question - they seem to not understand what I am asking. The update was only offered on an SD card, trust me I would have taken disks if offered. If you got an update on disks, you have the version before this latest one.

Also POI files loaded onto the SD card are also not reconized by the unit. You will now need to driectly load them into the memory of the GPS. Going to spend time over the holidays to figure out this mess they created.

Same thing

I got the same update and it only comes on SD card and can not be transfered in to the GPS. I went through this my self as I would like to have had the CD's instead to be able to have my SD card port left open.

Transfer via card reader

I wonder if you can use a PC USB connection and a SD card reader to transfer the files? Has anyone tried that?

files are transferrable

I've done it many times with various files.
OR
Do you specifically mean SD card with the Magellan map update?
