After updating,mine has shut down three times.

Magellan 4700 and 1470 have similar software, similar bugs; their ‘software updates”, in other words, “bug fixers” were released almost simultaneously -- twice. First time the bug fixers for both models caused big problems. This time, people already reported that the 1470 software update causes troubles. I would not be surprised if the 4700 update would be as bad. Thus, please exercise caution – you may make your device unusable.
Mine shuts down as well.
Mine is too. I emailed them about it. Gosh, I got tired of Garmin, and wanted to try Magellan, and this is what I get. Lol. If they don't fix this... well, this will be my last Magellan.
Go to menu
Go to tools,on main screen.
The settings screen will appear.
Select System Settings.
Select Auto Power.
After the update my 4700 chose power off in 20 min.
Set to never if yours has chose 20 min.
Mine has not shut off since choosing this setting.

Mine was actually set to ten minutes. Before the update I had chosen "never", but the update changed a lot of my settings, and I guess it changed that as well. Ugh. I wish they would leave my settings alone.
Firmware upgrade
Should I upgrade from 1.27 to the 2.06 and how o I do this

Just updated to the new software but have not used the unit yet.
Has anyone figured out yet how to load custom POIs?
