POI editor on the 1440

I really like my Magellan Roadmate 1440, i recent drove from Toronto to SW Florida using it.

What i am curious about is there a way to load custom POI files onto the device. I've seen other forms suggest that Magellan developed a software for POI editing, but i have been unlucky in finding it for the 1440.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Ulysses,

You might find my posts here http://www.poi-factory.com/node/24249 and here http://www.poi-factory.com/node/24307 of interest.

I do not own a 1440.

As I suggested, if you can hook the unit up to a PC you can check the files to see if Magellan used the NavNgo's iGO8 software which was used on the Magellan Maestro 4350/4370. If so you could use the procedures outlined in my posts. Quite frankly, I doubt it. MiTAC aquired Magellan early this year. MiTAC stopped using NavNgo software in their Mio brand after they acquired NavMan in 2007.

That said sometimes poking around the file structure can give clues to the possibility that there is undocumented support for these features.
