Creating POI files

Below is a link to an Excel spreadsheet that I generated to specifically work with Extra POI Editor. I setup EPE to read all of the fields in the Excel column header rows. Some of the Excel columns can be toggled on and off and some columns include selectable choices within fields (click the yellow header columns to make your selections).

Having these tools is both good for the Maintainer and good for the Members who use that file.

I have successfully installed Walmart,Elks and Passport America POI's on my 765t using Garmin POI loader.

Slick.

Everytime I want to use POI Loader, however, I have to run the re-install, unzip the file, check on the user agreement, then load the program.

It doesn't seem to want to instal on my computer permanently.

is there a way to put my poi files from my nuvi on google maps? i know that google uses and different type of poi file. is there a way to convert my poi files to make them work with google maps?

I could download GPX files to Microsoft Streets & Trips but I can't download CSV files.It shows up on the map but in one location not spread out to all locations.Could anyone give me information as far as downloading CSV files to Streets & Trips? Thank You

I did a site search on 'Wikipedia' and didn't find a direct answer to this, so if it already exists please direct me to the thread. This came up in a round-about way in another more technical discussion.

What's the POI Factory's policy on using Wikipedia content in a POI? Such as in the descriptive text or as an attached/embedded photo or illustration in a POI

I've developed some CSV POIs using four excel columns. I've been adding address and other description in the fourth column. At first, I just added a description and my Nuvi would display all the text. Then I got fancy and started using <*br*> and <*b*> coding. Now, my Nuvi cuts off the length of the description to only about the first 100 characters.

The source information for some POIs I've developed had incomplete or inefficient address. I'm looking for a utiltity to convert a batch set of addresses such as
"246 Main, Fairlee, vt"
"3711 Travis Street, Houston, Texas 77002"

into the more efficient/complete addresses such as

"246 Main St, Fairlee, VT 05045"
"3711 Travis St, Houston, TX 77002"

Is there anyway to get all of my custom POIs to show on the map? All I can see is the one I've selected to either Go To, or to Map. The other ones only show up when I am zoomed in to 200 ft. or tighter.

I have a list of about 300 members of a (motorcycle) riding club, saved as waypoints in a .gdb file. I'd like to turn these into a POI file, to be distributed to said club members. Can this be done, and if so, how?

Hi i have a POI file that i would like to view and edit is there a program that will open a file with a POI extention. It contains about 65,000 different way points that mark transformer on a electrcal system.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The nuvi 1690 stores the Current.gpx file in the :\GPX\Current.gpx file, but EPE says it can't read it, and it should be in the :\Garmin\GPX\Current.gpx file. Is there a way to configure EPE to look in another folder?

I can't seem to download the poi file. no matter what file I put it in , it says it doesn't have a gpx file in iT ??????? HELP ME PLEASE. I'm stuck, trying to download traffic lights

I haven't made a custom POI in a long time.
I got a Nuvi to replace my StreetPilot c330.

My custom POI's no longer display address info.

I am using Excel and put everything in this 4 column format.

Long Lat Name Address
-90.316029 38.613488 Acero 7266 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, MO 63143

(I do not use the column labels in the .csv)
I then save it as a .csv

I re-vamped and edited some POI's in the "cc's coffeehouse" file I downloaded. I went to CC's website to get my info. How do I upload an edited POI file already in your database?

Ihave several POI TourGuides. On some them the initial screen shows in the description "Alert Information 10 miles" in others this doesn't exist, yet the work. Anyone know hod the difference comes about? I have screenshots.

Having just downloaded a custom poi list re the Blue Ridge Pkwy is there a way to import that info into my mapsource program so I can build custom routes using the poi data while working on my desktop?
