POI Loader

I have successfully installed Walmart,Elks and Passport America POI's on my 765t using Garmin POI loader.

Slick.

Everytime I want to use POI Loader, however, I have to run the re-install, unzip the file, check on the user agreement, then load the program.

It doesn't seem to want to instal on my computer permanently.

Is this the norm? Shouldn't I be able to just go to the Desktop, click on the Icon and use the program.

the actual poi loader program should be in your garmin directory on your computer...just create a shortcut to that on your desktop

Installer didn't create shortcut on desktop

Installer didn't create shortcut on start menu

The same happened to me. FYI, I'm running Windows 7.

I installed the loader on my

I installed the loader on my desktop and it is the zippered file. Works fine though maybe just a little slower than if it were un-zippered.

Using POI Loader

I also have this experience. The downloaded POIs are fantastic. But each time I use the POI Loader (from the shortcut on the desktop) it has to unzip and reinstall and I have to agree to the licensing. Just seems that there are extra steps.
Thanks for any input. BTW, I am using Vista.

.

It sounds like you are clicking on the file you downloaded rather than the installed application.

Look on your Start Menu for the program under Garmin.

What a dope I am!

Thanks, Mama. Guess I'm so used to being led by the hand on downloading files that I expected that step to be in the installation process. Appreciate your patience. Here we go with our pois!!

I was doing the same thing.

I was doing the same thing. Doh.
