Garmin talk

I have two laptops I use. One is running Windows 10 and all is well. One crashed and I had to reload starting with Windows 8 and then installed Windows 10, the newest version.

Now the one I just installed W10 on will run the installed BaseCamp and MapSource and I can use either program to load a GPX or GDB file from within BC or MS.

I do not see any way to download sounds. Granted I am 75 so fog takes place of brain.

Nuvicam 3.40 is out. Below is the change log:
Changes made from version 3.30 to 3.40:
Added improvements for handling larger map files.
Improved processing for the Forward Collision Warning System.
Improved the voice dialing feature when using it with Bluetooth phones.
Fixed an issue that caused outdated files to be left on devices after a map update.

Just fired up GE and it told me that my 2797 had a software update version 5.40. Did the update but I thought Version 5.40 came out a while back.

I created a route with Trip Planner on my Garmin 3597 and purposely did the following to see how the unit would react.

I placed a shaping point close ( + - 50 feet) to the interstate I was on and as I was approaching the unit told me to exit as expected.

1- Can we delete or change the order of all the icons when we press Apps Icon on the main screen (Help File, Smartphone Link, Ecoroute,Trip Planner, Where I,ve been etc)

I previously owned a Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT and recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 2689LMT. My problem is that I use the Windshield Mount Suction Cup Holder with a Dashboard Donut and the Nuvi 2689LMT clearance is minimal with top of the Dashboard Donut.

My observation is that:

10/19/16: Garmin Express updated my 3597LMTHD today with Samantha 2.40. Previous version was 2.30.

12/13/16: Samantha and Jack are now up to V 2.50.

I have a question for you folks that have a Garmin unit with the add-on backup camera.

Seeing the feature in newer cars (namely in rentals) I can see this is a feature that I could get used to very easily. My current Garmin is fine (2450 with lifetime maps) but I know my sister wouldn't be opposed to having it as she occasionally borrows it then I would just get a new one.

I was wondering if there is a way to rearrange the apps in the above mentioned GPS unit.

I would like the Trip Planner, Where I;ve Been and Voice Command on the first row of the screen, since I do not have any use for many of the other apps?

Has anyone been able to upload custom POI on the DNX693? I followed the same procedure I use for my DNN991HD basically I loaded the POI using the Garmin POI uploader. Created the POI.gpi file. Copied it to a 4 GB FAT 32 USB into \garmin\poi folder. I go to the map screen insert the USB it recognizes it and asked me if I want to copy. I say yes and it copies the files.

Does anyone know where to download the Garmin Holiday Bundles since Garmin discontinued offering them on their website for download?

DO THE CAMERA EQUIPPED GARMINS REALLY WORK?

I have replaced my Garmin nuvi 2595LMT with a Garmin nuvi 2689LMT. My previous hard shell travel case was purchased from The Source. However my new Garmin nuvi 2689LMT (6.6"W x 3.7"H x 0.76"D) will not fit in my old travel case (6.25”W x 4.0”D x 2.0”H) which could accommodate both the GPS unit and Car charger with traffic receiver with ease.

After the last map update (and possibly system update) a few months ago my Nuvi fails to respond to the touch screen. Needless to say, that makes it useless. Has anyone had this problem and found a cure? Is there a way to re-load the system files?

Still one of the best GPSr's Garmin has produced IMO.

I updated my Garmin 2597 to the new 2017.30 today. Immediately, I noticed that on my routes there were major difference in times from my GPS and Basecamp. Example: I have a route that is 342 miles long. I have put in waypoints in various places to stay on route. When I got done, I checked Basecamp and it is showing 342 miles taking 6 hr 10 min.

Has anyone else encountered an error when POI Loader comes across the @ sign? I am specifically referring to the rcrosses (Roadside Crosses) POI file. That is the only thing I can see that might cause POI Loader to hiccup. I am running ver. 2.7.3.

The manual for my nuvi 2789 talks about both Voice Command and Voice Control capability. I'm not sure that I understand the difference. The manual reads like Voice Command is menu driven, i.e., you speak words that are on a menu. On the other hand, when using Voice Control you must first teach the nuvi by speaking and recording the commands you plan on using.
