POI Loader Error

Has anyone else encountered an error when POI Loader comes across the @ sign? I am specifically referring to the rcrosses (Roadside Crosses) POI file. That is the only thing I can see that might cause POI Loader to hiccup. I am running ver. 2.7.3.

More Detail, please

Where are you using the "@". I have used it in the past in folder names, as I recall

It is in the first line

of the rcrosses.csv file.

?

Just downloaded Giant Roadside Crosses (rcrosses537.csv), putting it in a folder called #Test POILoader.

Then, I ran POI Loader. Set it to save to my computer; saved the file in "C:\User\Garmin\@@poigpi"; Pointed to "C:\User\Garmin\#test files\#test poiloader"; called it "#test poiloader"; used Express mode; and got 536 Custom POIs.

What is confusing is that Notepad ++ shows me that the file has 537 lines - just as the file name suggests.

I did not find any duplicates.

I initially suspected

a TAB character somewhere in the first line, so I
deleted the first line completely. Same result. POI Loader errored on the first line.

Try this...

Try cutting and pasting everything but the first line to another member, then retyping the first line. That'll ensure that there are no bogus, unseen characters present.

rcrosses537.csv

Having a number in a POI file filename will cause an unwanted speed alert to be created. However, I haven't heard that it would cause a POI Loader error. We have always advised posters that numbers in filenames should be avoided. For example, Motel 8 is written out as Motel Eight.

The number in the filename creates a speed alert even without the word Speed and the underscore: Speed_537. However, 537 is too large to be a valid speed. It is not known whether POI Loader would have an error if an invalid speed is part of the filename.

The @ symbol in a text string inside a POI file causes POI Loader to expect a number after it for speed information. Source - POI Loader Help. I don't know whether POI Loader would have an error if the expected speed information is missing. However, I would avoid entering the @ symbol unless I wanted to create a speed alert.

Plunder,

I did as you said, copied everything but the first line to a new file. Loaded clean. I will notify Vito.

Update

I mentioned to Vito that I am using a Garmin DriveSmart 60. while he has a Tom Tom . Don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Tried it

I downloaded the file and opened it with MS Word and had it show all characters. The first line starts with . Deleted them and it loaded fine.

Same Here

I downloaded the file and opened it with CSVed and the first line starts with those characters. I deleted them and it also loaded just fine.
