GPX and GDB files

I have two laptops I use. One is running Windows 10 and all is well. One crashed and I had to reload starting with Windows 8 and then installed Windows 10, the newest version.

Now the one I just installed W10 on will run the installed BaseCamp and MapSource and I can use either program to load a GPX or GDB file from within BC or MS.

But these files cannot be loaded when clicking them. I have tried setting MapSource to Windows 7 and windows 8 compatibility and am running it as Administrator. I am also offered the option which program to use and I chose MapSource and check off "Use this program", then I get the error message " This app can't run on your PC".

These files usually show the MapSource colors indicating that MS will open them by just clicking on them. In this case they do not show the MS colors!

I have tried to load them using BaseCamp and MS and re-saving them by changing the name slightly but it makes no differenc.

Any idea what I need to do? Thx

Tried

Created a completely new route using no previous waypoints using MapSource. Saved this route as GDB and GPX file. Same result, does not show as a MS icon.

Windows 10

Windows 10 keeps deleting my choice when I put Paint as my option for .jpg. Maybe something like that is happending to you.

GPX and GBD files

Well after playing around with this situation I managed to associate the files with BaseCamp and the files now are identified with the BaseCamp icon and will open with BC by clicking on them.

I re-installed MapSource v.6.13.6 and it will open GDB and GPX files, but not by clicking on them. So maybe Now I am forced to use BC instead of MS.

That's the best I can do I think.
