I just bought a C530 and was reading this thread with interest. Here is what I have discovered on my unit.
The SD card is seen in the diagnostics screen. The only card I have is one I have previously used in my Kodak camera and Kodak had initialized it giving it a drive label (Kodak) and a few directories with a couple of files in some. I didn't want to erase these files since I believe they contain the sync information for the camera picture (file) numbering.
Anyone know if you can change font size in POI LOADER ??
I'm changing my format on my Paintball downloads, to show Name, City, and Phone Number.
Problem is that some of the info is to long, and gets get off.
Anyone know of a way to change the font size, so It will hold more info ??
I use the C330
I'm new to GPS but have been riding motorcyles for years. I enjoy getting out and exploring on two wheels. The Zumo and this forum and
Zumo 550 Forum
should be of great help to me.
I have loaded all the free POI's from this site using the POI loader provided by Garmin into my Nuvi 660. My problem is that I can not find any custom POI's available under the custom POI section in my Nuvi, however I do see that the space is being taken up for the POI's based on the HD size decrease. I have also tryed just scanning for them manually by using the most available items like schools and post offices in my area, but they do not show up in my map at all as a POI.
I downloaded the poi loader and put a couple of files onto the nuvi yestday. I wanted to try and add some music to the player today and the nuvi isn't seen as a known usb device. Not sure if it is the poi files, but it is the only thing new. anyway to get rid of them to see if this will take care of the problem?
any help would be most appreciated. I am just getting used to this "spooky" technology
i just got my unit nov 17 (yesderday)i downloaded your poi but i dont know what to do with it. yes when i open it its in an excel format. what do i do next and how do i see it in my gps.
Garmin has been busy updating software for many of their GPS models.
i have been looking at the help files in the poiloader.
the proities r the information entered in the poi file and then in information entered in the manual load. my question is why would u ever want to not enter information in the poi file and rely in the manual load. i cant think of a reason. anyone have any ideas
You can check to see if you have the same problem:
I bought a brand new C330 from Amazon on July 2006. The unit works very well when i´m in the us using the preloaded maps. The problem is that the unit seens to be not recognizing any SD card inserted on it. Just bought from Amazon 7 days ago a fresh copy of Mapsource European navigator version 8 DVD, unlocked the product with success, used a card reader to program the card (it´s impossible to use the unit to tranfer the maps to the SD card) and nothing happens.
I have a Nuvi 350. I was able to load the POIs on my SD card. However, the unit can only see 50 POIs on each category when I browse through the category. I can search other missing POIs when I search for them. So, is there a limit of number of POIs that would show per category?
AFTER I DOWNLOADED THE INTERSECTIONS WITH CAMERAS I THOUGHT THAT WHEN MY GARMIN WAS ON AND I WAS DRIVING THAT AT WHAT EVER INTERSECTION HAD A RED LIGHT CAMERA THAT IT WOULD SOUND THE ALARM,BUT INSTEAD IT SHOWS UP IN THE SYSTEM AS A POINT OF INTEREST,THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANTED. HOW CAN WE MAKE IT WORK? ALDEN
I have a Garmin nuvi 310 deluxe, with the latest firmware, and i use the latest POILoader version as well.
For speed cameras, how do you setup the POIs to only get the speed alert, without the proximity alert ?
On my street, I have 5 Speed cameras POIs at 30mph each :
- When I drive down the street at 25 mph, I get 5 proximity alerts.
- When I drive down the street at 40 mph, I get 5 proximity alerts + Speed alerts.
The Garmin Model I5 comes with the Maps already installed in memory and they do NOT give you the DVD to use with Mapping software like the I3 model. I called Garmin and they are sending me the DVD at no charge.
i have a number of speed poi and redlight poi programed in to my c530. if i program my gps for a rout and the change of rout notice ,voice and pic, come up at the same time as the speed poi or redlight poi, i get a sound ding but no red pic of the poi. has any one else noticed this.
lost the rubber plug for the antenna port on my c530. is this something i should replace, and if so is garmin the only place to replace it. it seems so small and unimportant
To whom it may concern
I own a garmin C330 I have finely been able to load poi files on to the unit which I found on your site. My problem is there is no poi files for Syracuse NY or at least very little I have been trying to add my own but I have had no luck.
I tried to add them to the same folders witch already have CVS files and found that would not work I tried to make my own CVS folder and add longitude and latitude with no luck can you tell me how to load my own poi files.
can i down load speed and red light poi to the etrex legend. ive look on garmin and ask question on other forums but no ans. im affraid to load for fear of locking it up
I have a new Garmin I5 and discovered that I have no mapping software. It is all preloaded. Is there a product I can use to create POI's for use with the I5? Is there a way to export the POI's that are on there? Also, I haven't purchased a memory card yet. What will a memory card buy me? Is this additional space for POI's?
do speed poi or red light poi work better when loaded on c530 unit or memory card. i have found the reaction to speed poi and red light poi is rather slow on memory card. i will try to load both to the unit to see if it works better. any feed back would be helpful.
I downloaded the redlight cameras and school zones files to my nuvi 350.I notice that nothing was working, school zones or cameras,no alerts. After serveral failed attempts i decided to convert the format from csv to gpx,now they work.Is it neccesary to do this with speed and proximity alerts?
