Garmin talk

I am taking a trip to Scotland next month and want to use my 660. I have looked on the Garmin site for the correct maps to purchase but am not sure which is the best route to go. It looks like I can purchase maps that upgrade the unit using a PC or purchase an SD card witht he maps on it. Any suggestions on one over the other? Or any tips on how best to proceed? Thanks.

So I had given GPS units some glances over the past. The last time I had seriously look at them the c340 was $700 and I was unwilling to spend that. Flash forward to tis weekend. I ready to go on a trip, I don't have much time to do research, but hey the c340 is $350 at BestBuy, I swing down there , pick one up, and head out on the road.

Anybody with a Nuvi unit with Bluetooth capabilities, is this feature worth it for the unit or would it be a waste of money buying Nuvi 360 or better just wanted to know anybody that actually has it and uses it with cellphone that is Bluetooth enabled?

Can somebody tell me that program that you can edit the poi locations so the name of the street comes up thank you

Does anyone have an external anntena for their garmin? I have a C550 and find that when in downtown philadelphia - In the middle of center city I loose reception... Now I resort to look at the directions when I am in a major city (NYC, Philly, Boston) before going into the city because I fear of being turned around and around like I was in Boston once.

In my wifes car the factory installed GPS has the ability to create a route by pressing something like start route now and then end route now The route is then saved as a favorite. Does anyone know if this is possible with the 660

Garmin has these preloaded SD cards for an arm and a leg Do you have to buy them from Garmin or can you use any kind of SD card that holds data?

Has anyoner tried to connect their Nuvi to Google Earth Plus? I was wondering if it was worth the $10?

I'd be specifically interested in track import. I have a mount on my mountain bike for my nuvi, and i would like to download the tracks i ride to google earth just for fun.

anyone have any experience with mounting the Nuvi via a vent mount? any recommendations?

WOW, I can't believe what happened today going through the Detroit tunnel. I live across the river from Detroit and have made this trip many times with my Nuvi 350 . All other times after entering the tunnel, within a few seconds I get a warning that the Nuvi has lost sat.

I bought the c550. Understand POIs and how to upload.

I'm not sure what "Mapsource" is on the Garmin Product and what is it used for. Also what is difference is Waypoints to POIs?

I was wondering if anyone can comment on the usefulness of the gas price information from the Nuvi 680. I subscribe to 3 gas price services on the internet, MSN, Motor Trend, and Gas Buddy. It seems to me that the information on the MSN seems the most out of date-meaning that the prices posted for the stations hasn't been updated in 2-3 days. Can the 680 users please comment on this feature?

I'd love to hear feedback from Nuvi 660 users concerning their opinions of the 660's integrated FM TMC traffic receiver info vs. the Nuvi 680's Traffic Information from MSN Direct. I'd love to save $200 by buying the 660 if its traffic reporting capabilities are as good as or even better than the 680's, though the price of the 680 suggests otherwise.

Does the i5 support this?

I recently bought the Garmin 680 and am in the Washington D.C. metro area. According to to traffic.com this is a well covered area.

However several times I have found myself in major traffic jams during rush hour than my unit knew nothing about. And this wasn't on some back side street but rather major D.C. roads.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I can't find it.

I want to enter information about a waypoint that will be displayed on my GPS. Example: I have a waypoint called "Bluebridge Ferry Terminal, Wellington" - the GPS cuts off the name and it appears as: "Bluebridge Ferry Terminal, Wel" and NO other info appears.

On those days (which is most) when I don't need to be navigated, I wish the c530 would eventually default to the "view map" screen. I hate having to always press the button for either "Where to" or "View map".

The disclaimer screen eventually goes away without a key press, I wish the other one would as well.

For some reason I cannot get rid of my old POI's that I have loaded on my c550. If I delete everything out of the poi directory and RESET my device, I can still go to Custom POI and select a location without any issues. I’ve even tried overlaying the file with a single location using POI Loader… the old ones are still there. Any ideas on how I can clear all my custom POI's?

Does anyone else have the problem finding the Windows version of POI Loader on Garmin's website?

I only see POI Loader Multiple versions and POI for Mac. Not matter which link I choose, they both take me to the place to download the Mac version.

Is there a way to create subdirectorys for pois? Example
