Can't get into maintenance mode since map update

I updated my 680 to NT 2008. I received my DVD within a week after I called (thanks Gamin)! Anyway, I wanted to erase all the user data to delete the favorites (Don't confuse with POI). But now I can not get the pop up screen when I hold one finger on lower right or lower left of screen while holding the power button in and powering on. I see the "PRE_BOOT MODE" come up and if I hold it long enough I get the "loading Software" at the top of screen and then it loads map and goes to normal mode. Has Gamin Disabled this feature in the 2008 update? I thought the 2008 was just an update of the map but I was able to get to maintenance mode before the update but right after I was not? Has anyone else seen this?

yo man, it's the top left

yo man, it's the top left corner

I've updated my Nuvi 670 with the 2008 map update and I'm able to access the maintenance mode

The maintenance mode is accessed in the top right corner. The top left corner brings up the satellites.

The nuvi 200 (and probably all 2x0 series) don't have a satellite screen, so the top left corner doesn't do anything.

The top right (time) brings up the time setting screen.

For maintenance mode hold the battery indicator (or where that would be if not connected to power) for a few seconds to bring up the diagnostic screens.

None of that works

Thanks guys! But, page 38 of the Nuvi 680 owners manual says to "hold your finger on the lower right corner when turning on power" and other post in this forum say the same thing because I actually did a search here to find out how before the first time I did it?

But as sugested I've tried all corners, top center, and the battery indicator and nothing works now? It just comes up saying preboot mode flickers and does what I posted in the top of this thread!

Not the map update Got it!

I feel really stupid. The manual says to keep finger pressed so I didn't read close enough to see to only keep the screen finger pressed. The problem was holding the power button as well. It should be released as soon as the screen lights while keeping the other button held down. I just happened to try to clear user data after right the update so I thought it was the update but didn't see how it would be! But at least I was trying to do it right by reading and searching before I posted. Thanks to Bruce in another forum who detected the problem!
