Garmin talk

Does anybody know whether this signal broadcasts all the time or just periodically? I don't seem to be missing anything, but the Traffic icon only lights up periodically. Other than a few questions, I love this thing. Just wish the information was available in more areas.

What does the "Map Info" screen do on the Nuvi 350? I have two sets of maps installed in internal memory: the resident North America maps and UK/Ireland so I have two check boxes. It doesn't seem to matter if I un-check these. Both sets are still loaded at start-up and available for use. I thought you could decide which maps you want to load from several that are in memory. What am I missing?

I just tried MapSource for the first time. I loaded just the UK and Ireland maps onto the Nuvi 350 SD card and all is well. But I can't get them onto the internal memory. The file size is only 134MB so I don't believe that's an issue. I get an error message that says "There is a problem communicating with the Garmin device." Now this is strange since I just loaded the maps onto the 2GB SD card.

Greetings from I94 north of Chicago! First of all the MSN traffic didn't kick in into well into the coverage area. Then when it did it warned severe traffic ahead recalculating, but when it recalculate it did not change the route. I followed the route the 680 gave me which was through the expressway downtown. I wound up sitting in traffic for an hour. So much for the traffic feature saving time!

This should be easy but can't seem to find exactly how to do this. I see Garmin sells updates on web via SD cards.

So if I buy one of those for my c530, do I put it in the slot and it will auto update the internal memory or do I now need to keep the sd card in to use the new maps version?

I've checked the manual, and can't find this anywhere. Is there a short cut to get back to the "home page" on a C330? Depending on what you're doing, you can end up having to hit the "back" button a half-dozen times or more to get there. Seems like there ought to be an easier way.

I'll preface this with an admission of being a newbie. I have the poiloader.exe from Garmin downloaded and installed on my PC, and the file for the redlight_cameras. Then I plug my C330 into the PC (via USB), turn it on, and then request the download (on the PC) to the Garmin unit and nothing happens.
Am I missing a step somewhere? I cannot find any instructions on how to do this.

How do you download the alert sounds? Every time I click on it, it goes to quicktime and it doesn't allow me to download just to listen to it?

I recently emailed Garmin for MapSource software DVD I got a response from them and here is what they said;

Does the Nuvi 660 have weather alerts? It would be nice to look at the forecast at times.

I've been looking at the Garmin GTM 10 FM traffic receiver, and have found it for a heck of a price ($129). I have a c340, and since the unit is not MP3 capable, I want to use my car radio to give me voice prompts. Before I plunk down the bucks, I would be grateful for any opinions about the accessory - how well does it work, is it useful, etc., and how and where you got it installed.

What is the POI limit for this unit? What happens during the POI Loader run if the limit is exceeded??

I've been thinking about the ball mount in the back of my C550 and I wonder how many connect/disconnect operations it can withstand before it gets loose -- allowing the GPSr to droop under its own weight. Has anyone had a problem with this? I've been avoiding pulling the suction cup mount off of the GPSr...but it makes for a fairly bulky device.

Well, I'm having fun with my 340c. I've loaded a bunch of places into the favorites file in anticipation of an upcoming vacation to the East Coast. However, in the course of playing with the unit I've noticed that there are quite a few errors in the pre-loaded POIs, especially in the attractions, food and shopping files.

I've got a c330 and have a question about routing. I take the exact same route home everynight.

My subdivision has 2 entrances, and my house is essentially the same distance from each entrance. Some days the GPS directs me to entrance A, some days to entrance B.

Can anyone explain why?

I downloaded the Red Light camera POI and one of the warning voices. Works great have already found a camera that I didn't know was there. Problem is that the default is around 1500 ft but I would like to increase that.

hello again..lol!!sorry another question! i just taste the poi alrt it work but only alert for 1 o 2 sec i put 1 1/5 =1500 miles to alert me but can i put it to stay for i least 30sec or min???i think to us the speed but i wonder if going to work better alert me than miles???so anyone can give me a idea to make stay little bit on than 2 sec i want to alert me like min at least!
