Garmin talk

I have created some files using .gpi format. It seems to limit my text to 250 characters when viewing on a Nuvi 350. Has any one used the .gpx format and if so does it generate more characters like what the Garmin Travel guide has? Also, will it overwrite the current.gpx file that is currently there?

About the only thing that made me apprehensive about buying the Garmin Nuvi 350, when I did, was whether or not the maps would be upgraded regularly. The specs for the unit indicated that it was upgradeable, so I bought it and have thoroughly enjoyed using it.

On the system info page, I can find the following:

nuvi 350
Software Version:
Unit ID
Audio Version
GTM10 SW version
GPS SW Version

Does anybody know beside the software version upgrade provided by Garmin, are any other versions upgradeable?

MOUNTGUYS have a nuvi 350 vent mount that also has the Nuvi cradle as a combo deal. It looks good. Has anyone used this device? It goes for $32.00.

Does the mount rock back and forth and change position with bumps in the road or is it a faily stable device.

how do you change the mph on the c550.im a truck driver and when i go into il.,oh.ect. the speed limit for trucks are 55mph but the c550 show 65. is there a way to change it thanks

My Garmin 760 worked perfectly fine the night before, This morning it would not turn on no matter what, not by the switch. or even plugging it into the charger just a blank screen, and the green charge light was on the charger. I left it in the charger thinking maybe accidently the battery drained and died, but still nothing.
I tried like 20 times, with no responce.

I created a csv file by hand, using some files I downloaded as a model.

When I download those other files, the proximity alerts of 1391ft seem to happen automatically, but on my own file, I get nothing.

The points map correctly. Just no alerts.

How do I fix this?

I tried tacking onto the end of one of the other files, and it works.

Is there a way to add icons to all the icons on my nuvi 350

I've seen several references to POI Edit software on this site recently. Is it something I would want to have? I have POI Verifier and POI Loader, both of which have been of great value. What will POI Edit do?

Not sure if there's something I screwed up in my set-up, but lately I've noticed that my 660 tells me to take an off ramp and continue stright ahead back onto the on ramp. I don't get it.

Just a heads up. There seem to be multiple errors on Loves poi file. Just wanted to put out a warning. I'll be deleting mine off my gps.

i jus got it for an hour and i updated it and now im getting it to start up and it freezes..it'll get up to the garmin start up screen powered by sirfinstfixll and then jus stay there and not do anything....anyone have any suggestion on what to do before i send it back to garmin..thanx

not all the time,but sometimes my c330 doesnt let me know of an upcoming turn until i get 400 ft from it,most of the time it tells me at least 0.2 mile then turn leftand then 400 ft,i think it works mostly on the speed youre going is that true and has anyone else had the same problem,i called garmin and the walked me through the reset thing and seemd to help just a bit.thanks in advance!

The Nuvi 200W has new SW update available. It comes with new secret menu options which was I think were never there before on 2.80 or older versions.

I have my Nvi 760 paired with my Motorola W385 and with my Wife's Motorola Razr V3.

Almost everything works as it should.

Here is my problem.

What is the RoHS version of the Garmin units?

Need some help please. Looking for mounting suggestions for a 2007 Dodge RAM diesel. In addition to the sticky back metal plate that I would never use they suggested a bean bag. They sent one at no charge. Good thing because it would not support it. What were they thinking?

which ext. should i use for the garmin c503 ? gpx or the other one>!
