Garmin talk

Is there some kind of program or utility that allows you to compare two POI files of the same name or category to see if there has been any changes or updates.

For instance, if I have two different Walmart POI files, can I compare both of them to see if there are any differences between the two i.e. updates, different long and lat coordinates, etc.

my car speedometer and my garmin speedometer are diffecurent. which one is more accurate?

I received my MSN Direct Receiver in perfect order, connected to their site and activated the unit. After a little while some information had been downloaded to my GPS and was accessible as expected.

OK so I got this Nuvi 780 yesterday, upgraded from a C340 which was really great but is dated. I purchase this from www.techonweb.com for about $712.00 with fedex 2nd day shipping. The item came with everything sealed and turn it on, wow! a beautiful 4.3 inch screen bright! It was a big jump from the dated c340. I turn it on and went to my car, signal was detected in about 2 minutes!

Does anyone know how to create a tourguide using mapsource? I am looking to be able to display text like the way Garmin tour guides show descriptions, phones numbers, dates, times etc...of different places/restaurants etc... I was told this could be done in Mapsource but can't seem to find any information about it. Has anyone been able to create viewable text and if so can you post how?

I have a Magellan POI file. I would like to transfer this POI data into a recognize Garmin format like .CSV or Garmin's POI. Is this possible? If so, anyone can provide your expertise? Thank you!

I just went to the Garmin web site and did a comparison of the Nuvi 760 and the Nuvi 780. They did not identify a single difference between these two units for the >$100 MSRP difference. What is the difference between these two units?

Dose anyone use these? i would think the heat/cold would not be good for a gps unit.

I know this has been discussed a lot, for the Nuvis, but I don't know if I have seen anything specific on the C330 and C340 for the friction "beanbag" mounts. From what I have seen in the pictures, the beanbag mounts for the Nuvi has the arm and ball attachment but the C330 and C340 have the mount with the three pin clip-on connection and have the power connection integrated into the mount.

HSN has the Garmin 750 on special for $299.95, usually $399.95. Interesting. Not sure how long this sale will continue.

Has anyone had success with software for route optimization?

I have a Nuvi 350 with U.S. NT-2008 maps in the unit. Also, have Thailand V8 maps in the SD card. Type in an address to Thailand and push to "Go" button. The unit does the calculation mode and returned an error message of something like "Not enough Memory". I guess we really can't drive from U.S. to Thailand.

I purchased my Nuvi 660 about two months ago and it has the 2008 maps installed on it however, the unit software is version 4.10 SO, what version software is everyone else running AND, should I update the unit to version 4.20 of the software? What will I gain in the update to 4.20? What will I lose?

I am new to the 660 and ran into an issue that I finally solved, but off and on, it took me 3 days. I was trying to enter my in-law's (no jokes, please) address into my favorites. The Post Office lists their street as W COUNTY ROAD 200 N. Well, the nuvi didn't like that. I tried several variations of it, still no good.

I'm about to move from Snowy Chicago-land to the Memphis Area, and while looking for a house, I notice some improperly named streets in my new subdivision. How do you inform Garmin about discrepancies? I looked on Google maps, and they have the same incorrect names listed. How often are things like this updated?

I have looked for the answers with no luck.
When I use the poiloader and put a file of poi's directly in the 680, it replaces the one file with the next file. I can only have one file at a time?
I have a number of files on the sd card but do not know how to make the 680 search the sd card.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
