There will be times when I will need to charge my unit in Europe outside of the car. Does this model have dual voltage or do I need a power converter? I was assuming it had the dual voltage since it came with pre-loaded European maps and a plug adaper but don't want to take a chance on blowing it.
Charging my nuvi 670 in Europe
I am going to Europe next month.
I bought the Garmin AC Adapter and on it, it indicates the input as "100-240v" and "50-60Hz". This means it can be used in Europe.
So you will only need an adapter from the flat to the round wall plugin.

When I bought
...the genuine Garmin AC power cable, it came with a plug that has interchangeable prongs for 3 different types of electrical outlets, including the standard European ones.

Here is a tip that I do to not mess with carrying the AC Charger with adaptor.
I usually just carry my USB cables and charge all my mobile devices via a miniUSB hub. It has seven ports and I just my phone, gps, watch, Zune, etc.
This saves on luggage space and more importantly wall plugs in the room. I only carry one wall adaptor that way with a single extension cord to power all my US plugs

Yeap, that is what I do as well. I wish that my personal phone charged usb. My work on does and my GPSr does. Now just get he other phone and heatset to do it.

Tell me if this will work:
I just ordered this gizmo along with 2 different tips, one for the Nuvi and one for my cell phone:

The phone is an older model that I only use in Europe. I was amazed they still carried tips to fit.
If I'm reading this right, this will take care of both units for wall charging and car charging, although not at the same time. Please say yes.
If it does, I will think about getting a tip for the ipod and the splitter so I can charge all at once.
